OK - getting back to the original thought of this thread...
First of all, in the interest of full disclosure, I do not own a FC, but I do crew in SCCA and F2000 for friends.
Secondly, I am against the hurry up and approve the new manifold and map idea.
Going back a way, a lot of work was done in the form of testing and remapping in order to equalize the Pinto and Zetec engines. The Pintos and Zetecs seemed reasonably competitive in the F2000 series last year. At this moment I do not recall the conclusion regarding Pinto/Zetec equality in the SCCA races (please remind me).
But, to get to my point, what if the same amount of testing was performed with 2 Pintos, 2 QSR Zetecs and 2 EPP Zetecs? Could the EPP engine be mapped to match the performance of the QSR engine?
Now, before you say yes or no, put aside all your warm and fuzzy feelings towards Elan and the teams that wish to use the EPP engine.
Please don't flame me: I'm not trying to be a wise guy. I am honestly trying to put forth a scientific hypothesis. And I have not received any compensation for this.
