I know Joe picked up the business but does he still do them?

Joe still rebuilds transmissions. TJS Gears/Tom Shaver out of Plymouth, MI rebuilds transmissions too and could also help you.
Another option in the Midwest, that comes to mind Al Varacins, SE Wisconsin. There may be more out there.
