Default Anybody know any history of this car?

I purchased this car a couple of years ago as a project.
The car is a JW4 car built around 1967 probably powered by a 650 triumph engine although I am not sure.
The car was set up for a cb750 Honda motor with 2 40 dcoe webers.

I am getting very close to completion and thought it would be nice to learn a little history.
There is no manufactures plate and no registration plate from any organization.
There was a Casca decal on the side that's it!
The original importer of the cars to Canada thinks it may have come up from the USA.
The car was originally yellow as they used tinted resin, this was visible after grinding old repairs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you talked with Bob Long or any of the 3/4 Litre guys? Go to the www.formulafour.com site and click on the history tab.............

Provamo, the car is a walker and it is believed to have been imported into the states.
Thanks I have been in contact with Mark for a couple of years.

    Hi Paul,
Unfortunately I cannot tell you much about the history of the cars that were sent to the USA and Canada although all the cars that I am aware of were built in 1967 and had the lightweight chassis. Myron Boyajian's car which you sent me a copy of his for sale advert recently was chassis 7023 and unusual in that it is fitted with MK2 bodywork as all other cars from 1967 had the Mk3 bodywork. I'm assuming this was therefore one of the first chassis to be shipped to the continent. The former Bob Dustan/ Dan Shively car which now resides in Belgium was 7030. Whilst chassis 7022 and 7024 were both prototypes. I believe in total Bob Long imported 5 cars into Canada, the first two in 1967 and then the last 3 in 1969 but I do not know how many came through the Florida importer. Your car is definitely from 1967 but I could not say when it was exported from the UK.

Yellow was a popular colour for JW4's and was used by the factory for one of their two display cars at the 1967 (London) Olympia Motorsports Show, unlike your car though this was a 1966 chassis. I have a few pictures of cars in their yellow livery and with block number roundels.

I can't wait to see the pictures of your car once it's finished.

    All the best
    Mark

I drove a Walker on a sales day at Castle Combe in 1966. Put me right off single seaters - "too near the ground" - "can't see where you're going" - "etc". Didn't drive another one until 1987 - now you can't get me out of them - soooo much better than production based cars.

The car finally rolled out of the shop after 2 1/2 years, test and tune now to see what 60's technology feels like.
Power is provided by a 750 Honda pushed out to 836 fed by 40 dcoe's.
Hours of Internet time finally provided enough info to get a baseline setup.

Hello Derek. This is a short bit of film made of a sales day at Castle Combe, maybe you are one of the drivers. Best regards, Nick.

Love the roll bars in the video. You say it has a Honda 750 in it. Is it the CB750 sohc motor? Any pictures of the installation? Thanks.

Looking good. Great old motor. I used to road race CB750 back in the early 70s. Just make sure the little O ring under the cam bearing block is good otherwise it will seize the cam up. Don't ask how I know. Other than that they are reliable as can be. Good luck.

    Default Johnny Walker cars

Wow, really brings back memories ! I remember Bob Leppan and a couple of his buddies running their cars at Waterford Hills back in the 60's of course all Bob's cars were Triumph powered...
