Guys,
What kind of top speed can I expect at Mid-O in a F600? Short and long course please. I'm trying to figure out which gears I need. I have the gearing calculator, I just need to know what speed i'm shooting for.
Thanks,
-Eric McRee

Apparently no body has been to Mid-O with a F600?
not sure if this will help...but a decent ff speed is 130-135 down the back straight. not sure how you compare to ff in straightline speed.
sorry Eric just got back from Daytona and saw this. Fastest I've gone there in the KBS is 132mph

Matt your quick trap speed was 153.044, Weida's quick trap speed was 145.929. Your trap speeds rather erratic. Most of Weida's trap speeds were 144's. Not slanting, stating facts.
Strand Trap Speeds in Race
105.992 149.397 137.808 150.775 148.582 150.775 149.124 153.034 145.151 148.312 150.497 142.867 149.397 141.875
Weida Trap Speeds in Race
107.385 144.382 144.127 144.637 144.637 144.637 143.620 144.127 144.127 144.637 145.929 143.873 144.382 144.127
Dave Lapham's (4th) trap speeds are more indicative to the 2-stroke potential, as most 2-stroke cars do not have sports car noses as the 600's and Weida's cars do.
136.427 135.522 134.629 134.851 134.187 133.748 133.312 132.878 134.629 134.187 133.094 134.187 133.748
If you havent figured it out my trap speeds varied based on how much tow i could get off Calvin. I was trying to see how far in front i needed to be to win and some were better then others. On my own i was doing 146.
Look at James speed in Q4. 152mph because he got a pull from another car in front. If you're quoting numbers use them in the full context...

Nice of you to post info that you can't analyze properly. One reason Weida didn't have the top speed is because he was never around anyone to draft. As you can see by the video, Calvin and Matt was. Lapham never had top speed all week so he's not part of the equation to begin with. The only two stroke guy that had top speed is the ONLY guy that brought a real clutch tuner to the track that's using clutching from this decade(Weida). In a stand alone run Weidas car was within .284 mph of my car (Pink scorpian). I would say that's pretty close considering theres SRFs that not that close. If you want to concentrate on something you might not want to start here. You're going to loose this battle before the war begins. However, if you want to make a difference and get the cars closer in parity across the board you can start by hiring a clutch tuner for each two stroke car in the field. Since you like posting numbers, why not post the difference in top speed from the slowest 4 stroke to the fastest 4 stroke then post the difference in speed from the slowest two stroke to the fastest two stroke. I'm pretty sure you'll find that a LOT more work needs to be put into that than what you're trying to accomplish here. One two stroke brought a clutch tuner and only one two stroke had good top speed. You do the math. If you look at the qual 4 session you will see that Weida and I are within .284 mph of each other. Same car, same body, and we are that close.
I misspoke, the 1 lap where Calvin passed me AT THE START LINE i only did 145.1 according to your numbers

Ok Chuck the original post was asking for speeds for Mid Ohio. It has already been responded too by somebody who has run the same engine/chassis combo. Why you decide to bring Daytona numbers in other then to try and push your own personal agenda still eludes me.
Regarding those Daytona numbers: 1st off I was running a KBS not a Scorpion which already points out how good you are with "facts".
2nd "how they did it" I did mine by being less then 3 inches off Calvins diffuser and pulling a draft for the duration of the banking from the exit of the busstop all the way to turn 1. Notice the difference in top speed vs average? Yet I dont see that in your highly informative and detailed post?
3rd have you looked at what i could actually do through the infield? I was holding a small amount in reserve to try and gap Calvin on the last couple laps if need be. Didnt work out but I still did it. Don't believe me? Look at the time differences. Again, not cataloged in your useful data set.
Like I said before, keep these kind of slanted post in the forum they belong and, in this case, where it originally came from.

Numbers are from SCCA race time cards as published in the race results.
S1 times are for the infield. S2 & S3 time combined are the banking + the bus stop.
Really? Darn here i thought since you broke on lap 1 or 2 that you were sitting on the wall with a radar gun and stop watch figuring this all out.
Since you are completely missing the point I'll help you out and point out the statement above was sarcasm.
