Anyone have gearing for IRP on a 10:31 RP...Thanks Todd
Anybody know the gearing for Mid America Motorplex? I have a 9:31 RP with hoosiers. Also has anybody figured out the gearing for the new Heartland Park runoffs course? I plan on running some nationals the end of july.............
Thanks!!

Since a couple of races have now been run on the "Runoffs configuration", does anyone have available the gearing for a FF with a 9:31 ring and pinion?(I can convert the gearing from a 10:31 ring and pinion)
Thanks,
JMB
i'd be interested in the FC gearing too
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
Nobody has any gearing info on the new heartland park runoffs configuration? Well does anybody have any gearing info for the milwaukee mile? (or somthing similar to another track that would work for the milwaukee mile?)
Thanks!!!
Andrew
Can someone give me gears for FF with a 10:31 RP for RA,,,Thanks Todd
Can anyone provide gearing for a 9:31 R&P Formula Ford Gearing for Mid-Ohio?
I saw the earlier posts on this thread with suggested gearing for the WG long course, but there is quite a bit of difference of opinion between the gearing listed in the two posts. We plan on going to the double regional in September, which is long course on Saturday and short course on Sunday. Would appreciate it if someone would share their gearing for the two courses, we are running a 10:31 R&P.
Thanks.
Tom Valet
I THINK the difference you're seeing is because of differing ring & pinion ratios. The first post is for a 10:31 set, and the more recent post is probably for a 9:31, although it's not specified. If you do the conversion, they are actually the same overall ratios.
Steve
Steve, thanks for clearing that up.
Do you happen to know whether the gearing for the Glen short and long courses is the same?
Thanks
Tom
Well, I may not be the best person to ask. I've only run the Glen once, and I ran my Summit gearing because I don't have the extra gearsets yet ($$$). But, to my thinking the gearing would be the same, you just won't use 1st gear on the short course.(see Shep's list of which gear for each turn)
Steve
Thanks Steve.
Next gearing I need is for Pocono North, the 1.5 mile course, FF with 10:31 R&P. Anyone know?
Thanks
Tom
No one seems to have any recommendations on Pocono gearing. There is a large difference between the ratios in Jake's book, 17:34, 20:31, 23:29, 26:26 and the Summit gears JD runs, 19:31, 21:29, 23:27, 25:25. I'm concerned that 2nd, and especially 1st, may be too low, even though there are two very slow turns. Has anyone tried similar ratios? Thanks,
Steve
Steve,
After putting up that last post in August about Pocono and not getting any response, a friend suggested that for the North Course we should use our Lime Rock gears, which is what we did when we went there in September. I will double check with my son, who drove the car, but I dont believe he used 1st gear in any of the corners. The LR gearing was very close and since there was only one other FF there at that event, we didnt play around with any gear changes. Maybe a tooth up or down might have made a difference, maybe not.

Tom,
Thanks, I should have been more specific. I'll be running the long course SCCA uses for Regionals, using NASCAR turn 3 and the tunnel turn. I use 1st where you re-enter the oval heading towards the tunnel, and in the chicane before T-3.
Steve
Needing gearing recommendations for the current Moroso for FF. I run a 10/31 but I can convert if you have gearing for a 9/31.
I don't have much luck getting gear advice - but here goes... using 10/31 diff ...
Homestead National course (using banked turns 3 & 4)? I mostly need top gear as I have run the other course at a regional.
I have a 10:31 ring and pinion and would like to know the gear ratios for NHIS,WATKINS GLENN, Mont Tremblant and Mosport for a Formula Ford .Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Has anyone run Barber? and figured out the gearing.
FF 9/31 R&P - anyone suggest what to use at Barber? maybe about the same thing as Sebring short?
all i can find so far after about two hours on line searching, rather than a gear recommendation, is a quote from Dorsey Schrader about Barber > "it's a point and squirt track" - so gearing would be sort of low to guess. i promise to eventually post something about Barber in the > perpetual what gearing do i run? thread
BARBER - here are some notes - thank you your purpleness
remember these numbers were a 10/31 FC
17/33 17/28 21/29 24/28
or
18/33 20/30 22/29 24/27
july 10th
after going there.........
CF 9/31 diff. used 1st 17/35....would go a little taller but i didn't have the gear, a lot of people going around asking "have you got a 18/33 i could borrow?"
2nd 20/32...i think gaither ran the 21/30 that i loaned him
3rd 22/29 4th 24/28. maybe you could do it but i looped it in the kink trying to take it in 4th flat out.

Looking for Gingerman gears with
9:31 R & P & Goodyears
Does anyone have the gearing for Mid-Ohio. 9:31 R&P
We have a limited MK-5 Gear selection and are not going to make an investment in any more right now. For WG Long (W/Inner Loop), does this sound reasonable?
FC 2000 Citation - Pinto SHIFT RPM = 6800 -

1st 16/26 Ratio 1.625 - MPH @6800 88.4
2nd 21/30 Ratio 1.429 - MPH @6800 100.5 - RPM DROP 822 - RPM 5978
3rd 21/26 Ratio 1.238 - MPH @6800 116.0 - RPM DROP 907 - RPM 5893
4th 19/21 Ratio 1.105 - MPH @6800 129.9 - RPM DROP 730 - RPM 6070

I'm thinking your math is wrong.![]()
I show that a 19/21 would turn 133.49 mph at 6800 with a tire 22.6" in diameter.
If your math is correct, I think 129 is too slow for WGI (long). I'm thinking you might want to be in the 135 - 140 top end range...
I don't know anything, so this is worth less than 2 cents. A experienced NE guy needs to chime in.
The differance between your 133.49 and my 129.9, is you using 22.6" for tire diameter and me using 22". Next time I get the tape measure out, I'll double check the size (I have to anyway, since I'm switching from the GY to the Hankook Radials for this event. That's the tallest gear I have for now so it will have to do. If I run out of revs. I run out out revs. I have a couple options on 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
