Default Looking for 2-seat Sports Racer

I'd appreciate any direction or leads on a +/- $20K two seat sports racer. The intent of this is to be a trackday car and to use to help my 2 sons (& hopefully my daughters after that) into racing in a way that we can do it together. They're currently active in karts. I've been racing Porsches for 10+ years (356, 911, 951, cup) but always been fascinated with the sports racers. I've driven a Stohr, Radical and Diasio & had an absolute blast.

I'm fully aware that $20K will not get me a nationally competitive car - that isn't the intent. The intent of this purchase is to get something fun to drive, to allow them to have in-car instruction and to use as a learning platform. Then, as the boys are ready, I'll move them into something they can potentially race & compete in.

    Thanks much,

    Rick

Just finished a search for SR for a friend. I truly do not believe you will find any that are running in the price range you listed.

Junk starts above $25K. You might find some older (80s) S2s and 10 year old Radicals in the $30K to $35K range.

    YMMV

Search for an OLDS-QUAD 4 S2. Bulletproof engines, can easily be converted to two seat configuration, and should be availoable for under $20k.

    Marty,
I lost track of your project sometime in 2010. I figured by now you had totally confused the Missouri Highway Patrol, or drove it off merrily into Kansas.

No way did i think you would ever sell it. Especially that "inexpensive".

    Charles,
I agree about the Quad 4, but i couldn't find any for sale. Any clues?

    Mike,
I had it on ebay last spring but it didn't meet my $7500 reserve. So what to do? I know, I spent another $1000 adding belts, an accusump and the carbon fenders. I'm really not good at practical money management.
So, 1) no street license in MO, 2) SCCA won't take it in their PDX. 3) After originally accepting it, the BMW club now won't take it. 4) NASA will take it In the mean time, I have gotten an itch to build a house so it is taking up too much space. I suppose I would take a partial tradeof an early single or twin motorcycle project (rat bike anyone?).

Check on the www.casc.on.ca site. Page 3 of the of race cars for sale has a 2002 radical for sale. Car is beautiful and has not been abused. It's in Ontario but if it's what your looking for it's worth the trip.

The Diasio mentioned is mine, and for sale! I've had it advertised for $20k, but am open to offers! Actually, I've been meaning to relist the car in more places (including AS, of course); likely for $17,500. There, I've done it, this is now my (lowered) asking price! Aren't you glad you asked?

    Hi there!

I'm digging this thread up, looks like I missed a good deal on the Diasio.

I'm looking for something similar, in my heart I want an SR3 or something as reliable and easy to maintain for track days.

Don't care about being the fastest car in the world but don't want to spend more than $30 ish... missed a radical for $35 which would have been great.

I'm in Ontario Canada for reference. If you guys see anything out there please let me know, I've been searching the obvious places for me which is racingjunk and the local forums. I just heard of this site recently so point me around if you know of others I should be browsing!

    Thanks!

Well, half way up this thread is my car for less than US$7500. Better engineered and probably faster than any bike powered diaso out there.

Hi Marty, your car looks cool, but I'm looking for something with body work as well as something I can get support on. I appreciate the effort in custom work but I'm a complete dunce if I can't just buy some parts to keep it going.

EDIT: My bad I see you did add some body work, does look cool. And seems like a deal, but I am looking for something very turnkey considering my recent luck with cars.

I have two Enterprise Sports Racers for sale - fits your requirements exactly with the exception of being single seaters. Is that a deal changer for you???

Very safe, very reliable, very low cost to operate and very easy to drive!

Jay those cars are sweet, but yes single seat is a deal breaker.

It seems I have so many single seat options it is crazy but double seat is few and far between. I need the double seat for a few reasons, I keep thinking I should scrap that requirement but really it is part of the deal when I sell the tin top.
