Default 07/08 Motor case wanted...needed...I'll trade my soul for one

So have a little issue with my motor which is getting rebuilt at the moment and need to come up with a new case given some magically physical issues that effected mine its whole little life.

If anyone has an 07 or 08 case or knows where to source one I would be greatly appreciative. I really don't want to have to buy another engine especially with what I have into the existing rebuilt on this one.

*yes I have searched ebay and nothing turns up as of today*

    John,

Just curious, what kind of issues were you having with your engine?

Have you tried Coop he has gone thru a fair number of engines and may have a workable carcass of one laying around.

    Default Yep, that's me!

    Fair number. Nice one, Dan!
Sorry JS, I currently DO NOT have a set of cases. Finding them is going to be a huge whole grain PITA.
(As you most likely know) they usually get ventilated by a rod, and if the crank gets eaten up, it usually just needs one of THOSE to be whole again.
I'll check my sources for you, though.
I saw one recently that was very slightly messed up by the right side crank cvr, possibly coulda used a little welding to make it good.

Thanks Coop. Really appreciate the help man!

Basically what happened according to George Dean who's doing the rebuild is that one of the main bearing carriers in the original case is out of round. So much that when you tighten the case down you can't turn the crank by hand but once you can start it spinning it spins ok. This is the way the motor has always been when I had it and I never really thought twice about it but more than likely it was probably down on power cause of the drag...shocked it never tore up the bearing.

Needless to say George worked a ton to try and see if he could get it right but no dice so I might just end up buying a new motor if I can't find a case. Needless to say I'm mildly up **** creek at the moment. Stimola sadly has my shocks as well so my car is in way to many pieces at the moment with the season coming up quick. George is on the look out for everything as well but not looking good. Going to be an expensive cluster truck.

    Default At that point

Just buy a higher mileage engine and strip it for the cases.
Get the head done so you have a fresh spare, and the crank is allways a great spare to have or sell to a guy like me with a propensity to tear them up!

Been thinking the same thing coop...trying to find a high miler is like your search for determining if Anne H is hot or not. If you find anything let me know...I'm a searchin too.

Here is an unlikely possibility but one worth trying. This has been a bad year for motorcycle dealerships. There have been a lot of bankruptcies and Suzuki has been doing everything they can to reduce the possibility of that inventory getting out into the open market. They are financially helping stable dealers buy out the failed dealers including their PARTS INVENTORY.

Go to your friendly local dealer and ask them if they have any way of "posting" your desire on-line (I know that Yamaha dealers can do that).

Go to the Suzuki GSXR Forum and Post your needs...someone may have started a project and have a new set of cases still in the box.

    Thanks Hasty. Will do.

I still am shocked at how the hell this happened to the motor and the fact that it ran at all. Basically my primitive understanding of physics says it cant happen. But George said Richard at Rilltech had seen this once upon a time as well.

Not sure if you would object the cases off of an older GSXR1000. I spotted this on ebay for you:

    2003 GSXR1000 Engine Case

Its a 2003 Engine case set. The cases are virtually the same. The cranks are interchangeable from 2001-2008. We have rebuilt a 2008 for one our customers (had a hole in the block). Out of desperation, he brought us a 2003 case set and we said what the hell. Long story short, everything bolt up perfectly from the 2008 to the 2003. We did use the 2008 cylinder jugs instead of the 2003 jugs. 4 months today and the engine is running like a champ.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
