    Default Titan Dry Sump leak

    Hello all,

    First post here, but I am at my wits end. I have a Crossflow Ford with a Titan side dry sump pump. It is leaking from where the seam where the face of the pump bolts on.
    I thought it was the pressure adjustment screw, from what I understand a common problem, but I ruled that out.

    Is this a common problem?
    Does anyone have a fix?

    This is not in a Formula Ford, but in my Caterham 7. Engine built by Jay Ivey and the dry sump system installed by some one else while I was not owner for the past 4 years. I had owned this car for 13 years previous to that.

    Default Leaks

    Which face is it leaking, you have a few faces here, best is disconnect the pipe work, noteing just what goes where, pull the pump off the block and strip it down, the only gasket it may have is between the block and the pump, then strip the pump down clean it out, clean all mating faces, then reassemble filling the rotors with soft grease and a smear of Loctite master gasket on the mating faces and put it together again making sure that the cap head screws are nice and tight then fit back into the car, connect all lines, pull the plugs and crank to get oil pressure, then fire up and you should be back in bizz

    The face that is leaking is between the outer most one with thread for the adjustable pressure screw and the next one closest the block.

    I have done what you suggest twice already.

    First I removed the pump becuause I thought it was the gasket between the pump and the block. At that time I noticed that the adjustement screw had be buggered up by some guy in Dallas (the person that i bought the car from took it to). It looked like it had been turned in with a vise grips.
    And it was missing the lock nut.

    I put the pump back on...a real pain in the neck in the Caterham because you have to support the engine...remove the engine mount to get it out. Still the leak...so i began to think maybe it was the adjustment screw.

    I ordered a new adjustment screw from Jay Ivey and another gasket. He also sent a setup (washer with rubber face and new lock nut) I pulled the pump again....(again a real pain in the arss)...and checked the mounting faces of the outer most face. I had to remove that to get the adjustment screw out. It is mushroomed on the inside so you have to take it off to replace it. I replace the adjustment screw and put on the rubber faced washer and lock nut. Still the leak.

    Today I used a black light with the Castrol 20/50 and was able to see it leaking from the seam between the outer face and the nexto one in....

    The only thing i can think of is to put some sort of gasket on the outer most face...

    Open to suggestions. I am almost ready to buy another pump or send this one back to somebody to have it fixed....

    Default Gaskets

    Do not use any gaskets there, with out looking at it, it would appear the face maybe wraped, so you may have to face it off on a thick glass plate 1200 grade wet and dry and the old figure eight method, even if you get a good straight edge you might be able to check it, I use master gasket on all these faces and have no problems.
