    Default Oil Return Swirl Pot

if my aging memory serves me correct, there are two oil return swirl pots. What is the advantage of one over the other. One was low with a skinny neck and small line connection. The second was fat on the bottom, taller and had a larger AN fitting.

It does if you for 1 have a round tank. And 2 the taller the tank the better aeration.

the last thing you want in an oil cooler is heavily-aerated oil; very poor heat transfer :-)

The skinny one is the newer design.
We have used both with good results

What was the reason for the new design?

I honestly do not know. I would not be surprised if it was nothing more than ease of fabrication and cost.
