    Default OWWC Update

    Greetings Drivers,

The event is shaping up nicely and we are working on some more cool driver activities that will be announced when we get them firmed up.

Since this is a new event we really didn't know how it would compare to our normal events, so far there are some differences like, instead of having 1 or 2 containers shipped in from around the world we are already up to 8, we even have 2 - F1 type cars coming from South Africa.

Test day is also very different, the normal ratio of cars entered to test day participants is about 35%, right now we are at 71%, it looks like we are going to have to limit the number to keep the car counts reasonable for the test day groups.

Here is some event info in case you have not seen it.

I'm liking the new group 9...

What is the difference between SVRA FC and SCCA FC? I don't believe FF2000 existed in this country before 1984, but the rules state 1979? Wasn't that one of the first years of FF2000 in Europe?

    Default OWWC update

    i'm guessing it's "SVRA Group 9 FC"?
    from the SVRA website:
    (9/FC) Formula C, etc. thru 1979
Formula Continental (1100cc), Formula 3 (1100cc), Formula Super Vee(1600cc) water cooled, Formula Super Vee (2000cc) air cooled, Formula Ford 2000

    regards,

    Hi Rick,

The difference in the classifications for all cars is based on where they are currently being raced example, current SVRA FC cars would be group 9/9FC, FC cars that currently race with SCCA will be classified as group 9/FC.

I'm still confused. My last 4 races were VARA/SVRA Pahrump, Indy 2015, Roebling Road SCCA, and Charlotte SCCA. When I enter Indy this year it will be on the VARA license. So what's the difference, and why?

One of your links took me to a reference to the 1979 date, not the one referenced by Fletch.

Wouldn't the grouping fletch references be a deviation from SVRA standard practice given that the 1100cc cars ran treads, and you would be mixing treads with wings and slicks?

    Update;

The Open Wheel Event is 104 days away and we have 102 cars entered at this point (see the group numbers below).

The Test Day numbers are more than double what we normally experience and I would imagine by the time we hit 200-225 cars the test day spots will be full.

We have been coordinating with many of our international friends to bring in a crane to offload the containers that are coming all at the same time, if you need assistance with a container please contact alex@svra.com. I won't be surprised by the time the event rolls around to see over 50 cars entered from outside the US, none of which are part of the current car count.

    Groups;

    1) 18
    2) 5
    3) 12
    4) 14

    Greetings drivers.

As you enter please let us know if you are staying for both weekends so we can get you a paddock space where you won't have to move between events. Please contact Alex Miller at alex@svra.com for help.

Please contact me if your club is coming with the names of your participants so we can get you paddocked together. It is important all your rigs arrive together, when you get to the staging lot please let the parking ladies know so we can bring you all in at the same time, we won't have the luxury of saving spots for late comers, the paddock will be packed.

If you have questions about entering or licensing please contact Kathy at 817 521-5158. Kathy is great and extremely helpful.

    68 days to go!

That's for IRP, not the speedway.

    I think I'm running 19/33; 21/31; 23/28; 23/24

Which is what I ran in '15 but with a taller 1st. should get you close.

    Here's the gear-sets I just put in:

    1st: 19/33
    2nd: 20/30
    3rd: 23/29
    4th: 24/26

Those were the closest I had to my "initial recommendation" chart

I'm sure you know this already, but just in case those are for a Pinto FC car running a 10:31 R&P. Looking forward to seeing you also!

No I didn't. Thanks for the heads up.

Any recommendations for a Club Ford with a 9:31 R&P?

Cade - the track on that list is Indianapolis Raceway Park, in Claremont, not IMS, in Speedway. It had a 2.5mi road course, and a 5/8 mi oval. FSVs ran the oval in the 80s but the road course is now defunct.

Unless someone changed the chart - but that chart dates back to the earliest days of Apexspeed.

    Default SVRA Indy

We had the Vern Jaques / Jules Williams Lotus 51 at both of the Indy weekends, and had a great time. After not driving for 6 years except for one test day the rust was pretty bad, but I had some great races with some friendly competitors (off the track that is). I found the course to be lot of fun and thought it flows very well. SVRA put on a great show and everyone who missed the event missed something special.

    Many thanks.

I was a no show due to a "no start" after a motor rebuild. Turned out to be a duff jump battery that would take only a surface charge. There were other last minute issues that made showing up ready to go unlikely.

I got home from the road trip, tried another battery and it started on the first try. We got the other issues resolved and had a great weekend at Sonoma last weekend.

My son and I had a great spontaneous road trip to western national parks. I hope to make the next QWWC.

    Dan
