Wow, great video Sherman!
When will these be available for purchase and who do I contact?
I get 35 mpg while towing with my VW Sportwagen TDI. But, I tow an open trailer, and no 4wd. Total trailer weight is 1800 lbs, with 180 lb tongue weight. I toss tools and tires in the back of the...
I sent the committee a note of support.
So are there conversion kits that will work or is this going to require a custom setup?
I have the "OptiMATE Lithium 4s 0.8A, TM-471, 8-step 12.8/13.2V 0.8A Battery saving charger-tester-maintainer" and it have a "save" mode that detects when the battery is discharged. I left it on the...
Based on the experience of people in this thread, I bought a couple of 8 cell lifepo4 batteries to try out. I bought the Ballistic 8 cell, and it worked ok for one session then discharged far enough...
Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to FV and still learning the car and the parts. What is the benefit of these rear drums over what is commercially available?
Paul
I did not buy Chandler's car. I called him about it a couple of days after he made a deal with the new owner. And I get frequent tips from Mark Rothermel as I see him often at club meetings. I met...
I got my initial brake adjustment advice from Chandler, and based on what I have read his advice is sound. Dietmar's and Sherman's advice is consistent with Chandler's. I removed the worn brake shoes...
So you're recommending I delete my brakes?
When I bought my vee last year, the KN filter had the back side cut out. I thought it was odd so I bought a new KN filter. The PO said it helped him compete with the majors level engines, but I'm not...
yes and yes. The push rods are connected to the brake pedal, and there is an offset so that the front brakes get more force.
I also have this thing next to my left hip, with lines going to the...
I have a brake bias adjuster valve in the cockpit of my car. I'm guessing this is just a valve that, when open all the way, gives full pressure to the rear brakes (no bias), and as it is closed it...
Thanks for all the info. I have digital gauges and want to set the temps for the warning lights. These numbers will help me. The data logger is nice, but I have a real hard time seeing the LCD...
What are the Vee temps I need to be aware of?
Assume a hot, sunny day in August, what is the max temp I should avoid while idling in grid and awaiting the signal to go?
What is the reasonable...
Yeah, my crate is definitely not made for having anything stacked on top. The bottom is great, with lag bolts and sturdy wood (built by a professional crate builder, I got to do some scavenging), but...
I built a 2x6 deck with runners underneath for a pallet jack or fork lift. I tacked on some 2x4s for general support under the valve covers and crank. Then I cut and screwed in 2x4 uprights and boxed...
Are these oil filter adapters still available? I looked at the SR racing web site and could not find this.
I worked a day and drove a day back in April, one day is definitely doable. Keep it in mind and hope to see you in the Spring!
Thanks Desmond. My plan is to get my RR license this winter and attend some events. I'd like to make my way up North for some CC races if I can. That's the plan anyway. :greenflag:
TVR and ALSCCA are hosting the "No Frills" time trial at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway. It's a very laid back, fun weekend.
Come on down if you can, it's not far from Birmingham.
I picked up my...
Perfect, exactly what I needed, thanks Matt.
What kind of tire pressure are you guys running with the Falkens? I have wheels coming tomorrow and plan to run them this weekend and would like a general tire pressure to start with so I don't go...
On my last outing, I was having trouble finding 4th gear. My hand kept hitting the bodywork when I went for fourth. I eventually found it by flat palming the shifter and pushing it into gear. I want...
As a followup, The carb "fix" was a bust. Thankfully Mark (FV90) was there with a spare float. First session on the track was a success! Thanks again for all the help here.
Paul
That was it. I cranked it and it ran smooth as a vee should run. :) Idled just fine. I may need to make a few minor adjustments as the idle dropped once it got warm, but it was nothing like it used...
I have a PM from Dietmar. I replied with a thank you and some info, but I'm not sure it was sent properly. So Dietmar, if you don't get the PM, thank you!
Paul
That's good advice, will do.
This is great info, thank you! I pulled the float out to weigh it and noticed some fluid sloshing around inside. It's the brown plastic, and it is very worn from sliding around under the brass tang....
No it isn't the jet, thankfully. It is the brass screw on the outside of the bowl, I believe it is called the Venturi securing screw.
Hi all, I took my new to me car to my first event this weekend and learned a lot, mainly that I still have some work to do to get it to run properly. It was the local autocross, and my first...
OK, thanks for the replies and advice. Looks like there are many ways to skin this cat. I was mainly curious to find out if there was one preferred FV method for doing this.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a fuel sample port? My car is missing one and tech says I need it. I'm not sure what to buy or where to install it and google isn't helping much.
Paul
Ah, ok. That makes sense. Thanks! I was at a loss as to how I would place a conical washer like Mike showed down in that small space. Like he said, not going to fit.
I took my new Vee for a tech inspection today. We did a thorough inspection since it has been out of the US for a few years. Overall it looked good. Had three items of note.
One thing he mentioned...
Yep, that's me. I plan to work Saturday and drive Sunday. This assumes I can get the few little things fixed that my tech inspection revealed. I don't think it will be an issue though, pretty minor...
I'd recommend Roebling Road and possibly Carolina Motorsports Park for consideration as well. I've never been to either, but guys in my club have and Roebling is a favorite, and good comments coming...
Thanks budawe, I'll do some research. Checking the sups from other events is a great idea. I'm active in the local SCCA and will talk to the steward to see what can be done. I'd like to make our...
I too want Challenge Cup in the SE. I'll even try to make some NE trips just to compete once I get my RR license.
I just purchased a FV and the driving requirement was to keep costs as low as...
Yes, I bought the car from Tim. My understanding is that the Tsunami is a Caracal D clone.
Somewhere along the line the body changed, as the original log book pictures are very different.
Man, it felt like forever but I finally got a trailer. I kept searching and searching and finally just decided to have one custom built. All of my searching revealed either a trailer that was kinda...

Lead shot from Walmart, in the gun section. Used for reloading shotgun shells.
N Alabama, the TVR region of SCCA.
Thanks for all the comments, I'm feeling better about the view. I'm sure it will be fine, just need some seat time. Can't wait to get it on the track.
Thanks Robbie, yes, I had a look at your company page last night and saw many pictures with the car in it. If my view is the norm, then I'm sticking with it. When I first got the car I was just...
Thanks Bob that's good info. That correlates to the log books, which go back to the late 80's. The body is different from the pictures in the first logbook, and I've not found many images with...
So after a long wait, my car has arrived in Alabama from BC Canada. Thanks apexspeed and TB for a great car!

I'm looking forward to getting some seat time. I have...
Excellent, thanks Dean. I'll be in touch.
Thanks all for the replies and info.
Paul
OK thanks, so this is indeed a custom wheel made just for this series and not just something I can source from OEM parts or the general aftermarket. Is that correct?
Finding 5x205 14" wheels has...
