    Default Hey, my old car!

Good to see it's still around!

Somebody is going to get one fantastic racecar. Just ask Cliff J, Russ R, Myself, Clint Linburg, Doug McCune and Tim Blythe. All of us owned it and loved it. Well at least I loved it!

If anyone has questions I can help since I prepped the car for myself, Clint and Tim.

    Default Very Interested!

I left a message earlier to contact me about your car. More pictures would be good. I have a few questions as to how long has it been since an overhaul (engine and trans), overall condition and so on. I am located in North Pittsburgh Pa.

I second Bryan's comments, being my brothers old car, I have driven it and it is a great car. Very forgiving and easy to work on. The 84 is better engineered than my 82. Reynard.

    Default 83/4 Reynard

The 83/4 Reynard is probably one of the best cars ever for the typical club racer. It is easy to work on, easy to drive, and not particularly sensitive to set-up. In other words, a guy who doesn't have much time to putz with the car between races will love this car! Plus, I still have a good inventory of spares on the shelf, ready to go! This is the car that made Adrian's reputation.

Default Hey, my old car too!

I just discovered this forum and this car for sale. I owned the car and drove it to the 1999 Midwest Division Regional Championship. What a great car! It sure brings back memories to see it here. As Bryan mentioned, this will make someone a great car. If I weren't up to my eyeballs in a dirt midget, I might consider getting back into SCCA via this car.

    Default Purchased Reynard 84F

Thank you to Jerry Morris for selling the car to me and Tony Spencer for the work he put into getting it here. This is my first run at Formula Ford and so far so good. It is a very nice car with good history. Glad to carry the torch.

You did pick up a good regional car. Everytime I saw this car run at gateway it was at the front of the pack. Seemed like a consistent front pack racecar. I have a few pictures of this car on track if your intrested in them. I will have to see if I can find them...........pm me if you are interested in the pics

If it's not too much trouble that would be great. I would like to have some prior photos for posterity.

I used to own that car in the early 90's. Great car. I may still have a bunch of photos of the car after a semi-rebuild. If I can find them I can send them to you. Send me some shipping info and I will see what I can do. Cliff Johnson cliffj@alpinelitho.com

Are you going to be at gateway in a few weeks? I plan on going down if the weather holds out. We just got back from memphis this last week and had a blast!

    Default Yes, I Need Parts

Good, I need an original clear windscreen. I believe it has the black trim around the mounting area?

Also, the steering rack split guide blocks (mounted to the frame forward the steering rack) need replaced. I have play in the steering wheel and it is due to the excess clearance in the guide block letting the rod move out of its guided position. I was thinking of opening the clearance and inserting nylon guide bushings but I want to keep all of the parts as original as possible.

I am also in need of a spare set of Revolution wheels for this car. I purchased a few sets of new tires and need something to fill in the holes.

    Default Steering rack mounts

If those are the pillow blocks that mount the rack, I repaired those on a (1982?) Reynard by cutting the mating faces by a few thou. and re-boring the holes for the rack to the correct diameter. Less work than making new ones. I seem to recall thinking that the rack and the pillow blocks somehow stiffened or helped to mount the aluminium plate that is the upper suspension mount, so was subject to fairly high forces, but it's a while ago.

I forgot to mention that a book that I have has a pic of your car in it. It is called "The succesful race car driver" by Robert metcalf. It is on page 171. The picture is from gateway and it is explaining the differnt lines and or apex the cars are taking..................

    Default more pictures

You can see the car at the '97 and '98 Run Offs on "Formula Ford Photo Gallery". Russell Ruedisueli was driving it in '97 and Clint Lindberg was in it in '98. It was a fun, reliable car when I owned it, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Tim Blythe
