    Default Stolen Race Trailer

OK, to top off the holidays, my race trailer was just stolen from the Detroit area. Fortunately, it was pretty much empty as tools, etc where out of it and I had just sold my car and spares a couple of days before the trailer went missing. Here's the description:

    20' Black 1999 Pace Shadow
Could still read the remnants of SUBWAY decals on sides and back
White upper and lower cabinets at front with stainless top
Checkerboard floor with diamond plate on ramp
E-track on left wall to hold toolbox and on floor at front to hold a scooter
Window on left wall above where the toolbox would be

I don't hold much hope of finding it but thought it was worth a shot at posting a description here. Thanks.

    Any news or hope?

I also figured this needed bumping.

    Dave,

Thanks for the bump but no news (or hope). The police said trailers get turned pretty quickly. They get rid of the serial numbers, sometimes paint them and then get titles by registering them as homemade. They then sell them off to contractors, lawnmowing companies or whatever. I grilled the wife to make sure she didn't have someone take the trailer to make sure I didn't buy another race car to fill it, but she's claiming innocence. Another lesson learned!

Several months ago this same unfortunate topic was being discussed in here....it led to these two websites being mentioned: www.trailer-alarms.com and www.KartTheft.com
My idea is to simply take the spare and some wheels off of the trailer - one if it's a single axle, three if it's a double axle...a thief is looking for the quickest in and out they can do - if they had to show up with a mounted tire, they'd also need the right size wheel and bolt pattern - they'd go looking for an easier picking.

One of the things we have been advising people, is that when they get a trailer, paint some of your info on the roof. Like the number of your car, or name. or website. Thieves more than likely won't look up there, and it is easy to identify from the air. They may paint the sides of the trailer, but I bet they don't the roof.
