How many people would be interested in a group purchase?
BTW- what I mean is that you intend to buy a Hans very soon and would be willing to buy one for a price below the best current deal (saferacer) of $865 right now.

I will be buying one before next season starts. Depending on how much of a discount the group buy gets would decide whether I buy one now or wait until I have more time to build up some funds in my account. How's that for a wishy-washy answer?![]()

Yes - we have two CFC's and a third one to be ready for next season. We are definately interested after watching the runoffs and reading the posts from Purple Frog.

FWIW, last holiday season I bought one from them during their 'sale' for the previous year model. Not sure if there will be a next years model making them want to liquidate this years. But they said the 2005 model was not a safety enhancement over th 2004, just allowed it to be more effective with belts that had spacing that was not optimum (mine was). In the end, I got a pro model for $100 less than the economy list price. So you might want to check their website during their slow period.

Eye'm ready to buy. someone was kind enough to email me info about a place he said he bought one for $865....and i saw an ad in GRM for $865. when i went to the first's website - one was listed but for much more and the place from the mag didn't answer their phone today. want a 30 degree medium and hardware, no quick disconnect.
Between the Sports Racer site & this one we have 6 yes and two maybe... we will see what happens but I'll bet we need at least 10 to see anything worth while-

I'm interested. Probably a 30 large.
Bill
I recenly bought my 30 for $1030. I was told that they lay-down angle needed for formula drivers is made in lower volumes, hence the higher cost as compared to $800 range for upright sitters.
Racers with fenders are wussies.

Please include me in your Group purchase .......model 30 medium and can it be a PRO model as well ??? no need for quick disconnect here .......

not meaning to give them a plug - simply telling what eye've been up to [uhhhh...about six foot, if you get the joke] ....a guy named David at Discovery Parts [ www.discoveryparts.com ] or call 1-888-748-7223 quoted me a 30 degree medium regular [meaning not the professional model] for $835 today - he said he was out of them but i was to call him back in about 10 days because he was going to get some 30 degree - he said he had about 20 others sitting there. BTW their ad in Grassroots Motorsports listed HANS starting for $865 - free installation and free shipping he said too. so let's all kick this thing around. BTW the $835 was not as a group purchase price 'cuz i didn't talk to him about that............maybe we all talk to David and agree to get many and he'll give us ? another 3 pennies ? ...........talk amongst ya selves
I am buying before next season and would be interested in a group rate.![]()
Honestly, I don't believe we can do better then that even w/ 20 orders.
Great deal.

If there is a better price as a group, I'd like to get one too. If this is a go, I'll have to figure out what angle, size and regular vs. Pro

I'm on for a "Medium, 30 with Quick Disconnect Hardware.
F.W. Schroeder, 6th
I also understand we may want to be looking at the "Ecomony" version.
According to the HANS Site, "a few ounces lighter, no differance in Saftey"
Thanks

I have 3 people interested in a bulk purchase....
Christopher Shoemaker
Cal Trumbo

We all run vintage formula fords, but based on incidents this year are definately looking to pick up a unit during the off season. Let me know within the next 30 days if you are able to put something together. THANKS!

so that's 11 names and ...........some more names from the Sports Racer's site too or so it seems to read above in this thread.
so what's a hemming weigh ?
so how many names does it take to be a group?
i have not been trying to bargin a group rate with the discovery parts people..................YO CARNUT169..........since i didn't start this thread the ball is now in your court. where do we go now? sounds like easily a dozen with the sports racers.
I figued I'd give it a week or so to see how many we get. I really believe that there are some retailers out there who sell the 30 degree device for $865, or as you found $835, and when dealing w/ Hans directly the starting number is $1135. Its going to take a big group to get down to the number you have already found. Anyway... its 11 yes from Apex, 2 maybe and 7 yes from the Sports racer site:http://p081.ezboard.com/fdsrforumgen...cID=1430.topic
For a total of 18 yes and 2 maybe. Enough? Lets give it till Friday.

thanks for the update
Please add me to the list: 30 large.
Thanks

I'll go for a medium 30 if it will help with this mission..count me in and report the damage. That dastardly Frog has certainly caused an uprising on this one. Much to his credit I might add. If it just saves one of our asses I guess it's worth the $$.
racehailey
Im considering it but need help in determining which to get. I know I need an economy model large but unsure of the angle, 20 or 30? Car is an 88F Reynard, semi reclined seating position, driver 6.o ft - 225lb. Would appreciate anyone's help to ensure I dont order something that wont work.
Thanks

Okay guys, count me in.
Gary you would get a 30, the size depends on your neck size. Most get a medium (15-18" neck)

Hi guys - add one more. I'll be in an '88 Reynard FC, 5'9', 160 lbs., 15 to 15 1/2 neck. Like Gary I'm not sure what size I'll need but after MO I'm convinced I better strap one on. Count me in, and I suppose size to be determined, I've got to do my research.
Richard Learned
I just found this thread regarding a group purchase of the Hans Device. I'm in as well. I just have to figure out size and degree.
Thanks for all your efforts.
Randy Phelan
richard learned.you're a 30 degree medium
ok ok ........so i'm following up stuff in here and elsewhere and the deal i described above [or in the other thread?] for $835 is for a 20 degree [readroduction - not formula car] my source - that asked to not be identified - said ........................eventually then i told them that at least 19 or you readers would make out checks to them [not me] and an order would go to them for 20 minimum and the deal suddenly was about $1000............so.............the deal goes through ..........?2winindy and/or at the same time carnut?.......... so the deal of roughly $950 on a 30 medium is about as best as it can get. i get the impression is that a stack of checks, not made out to sean or jamie but rather the originating company, is gotten together by the middle person and then this deal goes forward.........if that middle person doesn't get enough checks by a specific date, then they're shredded............let's keep this thing going!
don't worry eye.... (patience!)

I'll take one also.
Don't start yelling at me, maybe I'm missing something.
The "mass seller" is coming in at $950.00, but "retailers" on the web are selling the "economy" version 30 @ $865.00 "in stock & same day shipping"
Are we looking at the Proffesional or Economy Version.
From HANS WebSite " There is no differance in the amount of saftey, just a few ounces lighter"
Thanks,
F.W. Schroeder, 6th
Shouldn't we be targeting the Retailer who's selling them outright for $865.00
Thanks
F.W. Schroeder, 6th
Yes, we should.
Find one and I will be happy to contact them... (saferacer & discovery have both gone up to $1135 for the 30' economy)

I think the $865 is for the economy 20 degree, not the 30 degree that we need, which is 1135. Correct? BTW, I'd be interested in a regular 30 degree medium.
Steve
oops, carnut's post about pricing slipped in while I was typing!
I'm shocked at how many of you folks are looking to pinch a penny here.
I'm on my second one, as when I moved from my 88 Reynard (Gary Payne's car now) I was using an upright version and it wouldn't fit in my Van Dieman. I sold it and bought a new one ASAP.
The point??? It's your life god damn it. If you feel as though you must get a "deal" on each and every item you buy, well, I guess I know who buys all those close out safety items from Racer Wholesale...
The total sum of my gear is worth more than what I paid for my first and second race cars.
I'll be spending $700-$1000 next year to buy a new helmet. Why? It ain't cause I'm rich. Remember I work for SCCA!
It will be because my butt is worth it.
If you want a HANS, buy it. If it takes getting a "deal" to make you move off the couch to spend the dough......

As of this day [10-8-2005] they are posting the "E/30" @ $865.00
Also as of 10-9-2005, OG Racing is also listing the "E/30" @ $865.00
Sorry, wasn't looking to cause a problem, just trying to help.
"When the dollar I spend doesn't make me go faster, I'll always buy a close out item and stretch that dollar as far as I can"---"Plus then I got more bucks for go faster parts"
Thanks

from all that eye'm running around to do i've learned this much to this point.....835 or 865 is for a 20 degree.........950 or so is maybe the best we'll find on a group purchase of 30 medium or large econo model - this may or may not include installation [we ship helmet to installer at our cost] and shipping one way to us too but the shipping would be to the one person sort of brokering the deal - not each of us individually, it will not include a quick release [which many feel is not needed]...........carnut and or ohtowinindy may be the final activators with this whole thing - not me. those of you reading this thread and saying you want in on this deal must understand we've got to find a source with a bunch of 'em sitting around - or just coming in and knowing they're for this deal and someone in the meantime is sitting on 20 checks - the dealers will not wait so i get the impression that the best ya'll can hope for is someone here says "send me your check....made payable to________, if it falls apart, they'll be shredded"
