Default July 2025 Fastrack... Wheelbase change?

In FST, GCR section 9.1.1.F.1.6, change as follows:"
    2. Wheelbase minimum 81.5"; maximum (85.5) 90.0"
    5. Overall length: Maximum (140) 150" (includes exhaust)"
Is this correct? The FST cars are getting an increase in wheelbase to 90"? That is very significant for tall people where the standard FV is max of 83.5" and the FST was 85.5.

Yes they are requesting that for tall drivers. Needless to say a well designed car will fit tall people but a lot of the original cars were FV with the additional 2" to allow more engine room. My car will easily fit 6'4" drivers so it has been doable. Car is for sale.

Thanks Ed. That is a huge difference. Maybe DriverZ and Challenge Cup will look at a 2nd class with FST cars on the same tires...

It is just a longer wheelbase and only a few inches is need to fit taller drivers. The big difference is a lot of cars are built with the shortest height of rear roll hoop which from what I have seen is probably the biggest issue with taller drivers. If the rear hoop is short then the only way someone can fit is to slide down in the car which then creates other issues. Along with the trend to narrow chassis then requires a location to fit things like battery and fire bottle into the driver space.

Keep in mind in the FV world the car has specific width requirements which are also near the rear of the car. Having a narrow front and then needing it to get larger at the rear is not the best aero design available. The other thing is some want a look like a F1 car which has entirely different design direction and a raised pointy nose in my opinion is not the best way to approach the chassis layout.

Understood Ed. At 6'4" myself, I can attest that no FV is an easy fit. That length makes it a different world entirely.
