We have just acquired a 1979 Tiga SC-79, chassis number 81 that has been sitting, partially disassembled for a while. Fun Project! The car appears to be complete, although there may be some minor parts missing, and overall looks to be in fairly decent condition.
I'm wondering if anyone knows any of the history of the car. The last known driver, show in the on-track photo, was John Whitton from the San Diego area., there are a several drivers in the Log Book, but mostly the handwriting is illegible; Dr's maybe?
Does anyone who has owned one of these cars have any information that they would be willing top share? Part Drawings, Parts List, Setup's, Gearing, Oil capacity, oil tank level measurements, any service notes etc etc
As you can see in one of the photos, the Cam Cover has been chromed; we have been told that back in the day there was one engine builder of FF2000 and SC2000 engines that used to Chrome the Cam Covers, does anyone know who that might have been? We're checking for numbers that might identify the builder too.
The plan at the moment is to get the car quickly re-assembled and on its wheels, so an assessment of missing parts and overall condition can be made. We'll check out the fuel cell date and condition, the fire bottle date, take a look in the plug holes to see the condition of the bores, etc From this we should be able to develop a plan and job list.
Any and all information, guidance, anecdotes or horror stories will be very much appreciated.
More info and photos to follow as we make progress.
