    Default Lola Starter Source

Looking to replace the starter on my Lola T590. Currently fitted with a Bosch SR120X. Have Been unable to locate a source for new or remanufactured one. Any suggestions? How about a Tilton XLT? $550, and currently available. Appreciate any input. Michael Duncan

I may have one of these in my garage - although I'm in the UK, shipping is possible. Let me check and, if you can send me a PM with your email address, I will look out the item and take some pictures.

    Hope that helps!

    Default Starter

I have some Bosch starters that labeled Motorcraft used on a FC car. Have to check the part number. But as I am right in Conn, you are welcome to pick one up and try it.

That Bosch starter is used on many Toyotas. Ergo, Nipondenso will make a replacement. Take the starter in to an Autozone and start looking for a Toyota Corolla 1600, or something like that. If you find the right one (I found substitutes for Cosworth BDA and Lola/OLDS) use that. It will probably come with a lifetime warranty. And much cheaper.

The spare starter I have is ND's equivalent of the Bosch 1.4kw item. The motor itself is slightly larger than the more usual 1kw version found on many FF/FC's and originating from the early 80's Toyota Corolla.

The key is to find the correct front casting as there are dozens of different variations of mounting bolt location.

Check also the location of the positive terminal, although they can be relocated if necessary by using different internal contacts.

Marc Bushman sells a clocking modified Denso (I believe) that will fit most FF/S2. From what I’ve read/heard, they’re highly regarded for their quality and durability. I’ve used them on two of my restorations.
