Default Plastic coated aeroquip braided stainless

I'm replacing my oil pressure gauge and re-plumbing my oil pressure line. I have a roll of -3 line and the fittings to assemble. The braiding is coated with plastic to prevent abrasion.

The challenge is removing the plastic coating so the braid will fit into the fitting nut so I can assemble it. I cut with a dremel abrasive wheel, but the coating will not allow me to insert the end of the line into the nut. Tape around the cut end made the problem even worse. Should I heat the plastic so it melts as it slides into the nut?

    TIA for the help.

    Dan-
I take a nice sharp razor blade and measure about 3/4” from the end of the hose. Then I cut the coating away and assemble the hose as normal. Just be careful not to cut your fingers!

Same here - and if you roll the blade around the hose rather than slicing, it doesn't score into the braid.

Yep, that worked great. It's all assembled.
