Default Wanted: Lola T204 Brake rotors

Looking for at least one serviceable rotor to replace one of mine that has been cut many times and continually warps.

    Thanks
    Jeff

Are you looking for front or rear rotors? If rear rotors, are you looking for the inboard or outboard rotors?

As I remember, a lot of the suspension bits for the Lola's of that vintage were stock or slightly modified VW parts. The Zink cars of that era used the same parts.

    Steve,

On the 204 the rotors are outboard and the same all around. They are one piece cast with a very deep hat section. This makes them pretty unique and hard to come by.

I think in the not to distant future I'm going to create hats to utilize a common flat rotor. Maybe even floating rotors.

    Thanks
    Jeff

Your description of the rotors suggest that the rotors were machined from VW type 3 parts, front rotors. Those parts were developed when we had to make many of the suspension parts from stock VW parts. They came from the Super Vee days when VW was the series sponsor and they made the parts available to the race car manufacturers.

You will have to make the spindle but you might be able to make use of rotor from the rear of a relatively late model VW Golf. I have used these rotors as replacements for rotors that I can no longer get. They war solid 10 mm thick or there abouts. The depth of the hat section is not what you will need but they are available from VW and are good quality. And, if you cam make them work, they are way less expensive that custom make parts. Also check to see what Performance Friction has. The make a line of rotors and brake hats at very reasonable prices.

    Default Rotor Source

Take a look at the options offered by Performance Friction. You should be able to use their off the shelf rotors and only have to worry about the the spindles/hubs. Their rotor setup is floating type.

For rear hubs, Richard Pare, ICP, makes a high quality replacement for the original VW. It will hold up to the demands of a race car. Nothing off the shelf will work. The splines in the hubs ware out very quickly.

Might want to check your groups rules first, I seem to recall the VFF weren't allowed to use floating rotors or anything but 1 piece ferrous disc. Campbell had looked into making these based on an old thread here but maybe Primus also has a lead?

    Gary,

Looks like the Monoposto vintage rules state that brakes are "free" with the exception that calipers and rotors are iron.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Do they look like this? These came from a Lola FSV that cam with my Zink FSV chassis. They are definitely VW origin if they are.

    Paul,

They looks similar. The rotor diameter is 10" and the hat section is roughly 3" deep.

I will have to measure them. My thought was that they are available as vw parts. On the t340

The fronts and rear are different, but I assume as Steve stated they were machined from VW parts.

Those are the the rotors for the front and rear of the car. Zink and Lola used the same parts. I built at least one Zink from parts the were salvaged from a crashed Lola.

Those VW parts were used on both the Lola and Zink FSVs and the Formula Fords back then. The other popular Formula Fords used British Leland parts.

You might contact these guys https://www.jbugs.com/product/22-287...xoCFTcQAvD_BwE

the ghia disc brake conversion kit or the blanks that they sell might get you close.
