Default FC Cars Where Are You ?

I’m preparing to attend the HST race at VIR the first weekend in April, I was trying to make Atlanta but couldn’t get my car finished due to parts availability. I looked at the entry list for this upcoming event and there are 0 FC cars and a total of 13 cars for the group.
Come on guys/ gal’s you want to complain that Scca is against Sports Racing Cars and we can’t get any more cars than this, its like our own private race.We have been working hard to get people to attend these races and I have to believe that if this trend continues we’re not going to have a place for these cars.
I would love for some of you FC cars to come join me at VIR.
It is a great track and it’s sure to be a great weekend if you look at the schedule.
Thanks for listening to my rant

    Default Arizona Region

We have a Regional at The Podium Club in Casa Grande AZ this weekend - total of 23 entries, 6 in our run group of which only two are open wheel & both are FC.

Kinda sad... but should be a lot of open track space!

Nope, I'm here with FRP, and there's maybe 6(?) true FC cars ....
Tim's your biggest proponent of this class, but not many others seem to care if it fades away. Sad.

I did 8 race weekends in FC last year, and will probably do the same this year.

But, because I don't want to travel 1/2 way across the country to certain events or race in a certain series, I'm told my participation doesn't count for anything, and I'm damn tired of hearing that.

Unfortunately the club only recognizes Majors/ HST races for participation statistics.
We certainly appreciate your support for the FC class.Would love to have you at VIR
    Thanks

Tim, it is my plan to be at the VIR HST. But I may have to miss due to a family situation. If I cant do VIR than I will attempt to get the car ready for the Summit regional next weekend as a shakedown for the Summit Major. Knowing that only Majors count I will try and make VIR.

You might want to check the GCR or call Topeka for the final implementation date. I recall that they were not mandatory for the first few HST events.

When I ordered mine before the Atlanta HST, there was a checkbox to say you need it for a soon, upcoming race. I got mine fairly quickly.

Probably a good idea to call them.

I'm 99% sure Flagtronics (and cameras) are required for all HST's.

"Drivers must provide your FT200 or FT-RD Serial # during your event registration in your MotorsportsReg Vehicle Garage."

Good news - When ordered I put note in that it was required for this race. Hopefully it arrives soon.

Tim- I'll reach out once confirmed- It would be great to paddock together.

Tim, it looks like I am able to go to VIR and dont have that much left to do on my car. But, I too am waiting on my Flagtronics system. I ordered one five weeks ago in mid February and let them know that I was planning to do the VIR HST, but have not heard anything. I guess I am not able to register until it shows up. Maybe the SCCA needs to get out front of this and let us at least register.

Guys, I am registered for the VIR HST. I was able to register without my Flagtronics number, it was never requested during registration.

Tim, right now Im the only FC registered.

Am I reading this right that people might not be able to race if a Flagtronics doesn’t show up in time?

Yeah, Gosh, it’s so mysterious why fields are slim.

    ??
Soon we will....maybe......and at our own expense of course.......need to install an 'auto & remote limiter shut off switch" that the Chief Steward can press when they feel the need to do so.........

like at your local go-kart track..........

    ??

....because someone will eventually think the Flagtronic thing is not good & safe enough

curious why no one has asked why scca 'mandates' this level of 'safety' at the HST level, but other racers at lower levels of competition are what ... more expendable? or deemed to poor to afford it so lets not force this on them for risk of losing their entry fees?

Whatever it is it looks like a capital S with two vertical lines top and bottom.

If anyone is desperate for a Flagtronics FT200 (not the formula car version), you might be able to talk me into sending you mine. I bought it for the Rd Atl HST and don't expect to need it again for a long time. Best to ask via email: russmcb@bellsouth.net

At the FRP Rd Atlanta weekend, folks were able to race w/o it because Bob Wright knew they were on backorder - according to him FT should be up to date on orders now.

    Thanks, Dave.

That’s good to hear of course… but unfortunately too late for the above posters skipping races for not fulfilling that single mandate.

Seems to me that entries are increasingly desperate, and losing even one is one too many — if not then multiplying into several, others we’ll never hear about, or others yet taking up new and simpler hobbies.

Not speaking in ANY official frp capacity, but I thought Bob gave people until mid summer to get their units installed and running?

IIRC, he said we need to have them by PIRC the May 31st weekend. I got mine installed near the end of last year.

Mine showed up last week. I called and emailed and it shipped later that day. I gotta get it installed, been working on my trailer all weekend. The guy at Flagtronics did say they dont believe they have ever caused someone to miss a race.
