For Sale Elden Mk10 Formula Ford Being Sold For Charity

Background: For the past 13 years Rocky Mountains Vintage Racing (RMVR) has held their annual Race Against Kid’s Cancer race weekend. These events have been dedicated to raising money for the Morgan Adams Foundation (MAF) who is dedicated to sponsoring research into children’s pediatric cancer. Over those years RMVR has raised about $2,000,000 for MAF. Cool, huh?

    A Recent Really Neat Deal:
Because of this long-term relationship and in a desire to support the club’s fund-raising efforts, one of our generous RMVR members has donated a restored Elden MK10 Formula Ford to MAF. They will sell the car in a Bring-A-Trailer charity auction (i.e. no BaT fee incurred) starting in Mid-July. MAF will get all the proceeds. Neither the car’s donor nor RMVR receive any of the proceeds. It all goes to the MAF.

Since that auction won’t go “live” until Mid-July, an web page has been created to help inform potential buyers about the car and, of course, to build interest in the coming BaT auction.
When the actual BaT auction becomes live, we’ll update this posting. But in the meantime, check out the above web page. And if you know anyone shopping for a race-ready FF, please tell them about this posting or send them the link to the web page.

Or, If you already have a FF, maybe consider entering this annual race weekend. It’s held at High Plains Raceway, a circuit loved by all who race it. (Probably a field of 30+ FFs.)

Drop me a personal message with any questions.

    Cheers,
    Bob Alder - Denver
Note: This car is not being sold via this ApexSpeed posting. It will only be sold via the BaT auction.

Just bumping to remind folks of this upcoming charity auction. Nice race ready FF. It has an RMVR CF logbook, but since it has outboard suspension on BOTH ends, it would qualify as a Vintage FF in most all vintage organizations, even Monoposto. Yes, it's '73 built but clearly a continuation of the '72 cars.

Since that auction won’t go “live” until Mid-July, an web page has been created to help inform potential buyers about the car and, of course, to build interest in the coming BaT auction.

We have so much admiration for what you’ve done for charity, Bob.

We’re always deep in the Rockies that time of year, but will support your cause at some point.

Awesome work, and this car auction is flat wonderful.

Thanks. Spread the word on the auction. Especially on social media if you can. I know FFs. Don't know or do social media..

Hey "ApexSpeedsters." The auctioned Elden FF will be at Children's Hospital (Anschutz hospital area in Aurora, CO) tomorrow if you are interested in seeing it and thinking of bidding when the BaT auction becomes live. We expect that auction to be live next week and we'll post a link here when it does become live.

Why you ask at the Anschutz medical center, the Children's Hospital? Each year we have "Media Day" there, kids in treatment at the hospital can come out to the parking lot where we set up a Radio Controlled race course. We create racing teams with one of the kids, someone from the local media, and someone from Morgan Adams and race the RC cars. Media Day let's the kids get out hospital for some fun and hopefully the media folks will give RMVR's upcoming Race Against Kids' Cancer some "ink." All good fun. Anyway we'll bring the soon-to-be-auctioned Elden and some other race cars to stir up interest and for the kids to see, sit in, etc.

In any case, if you have an interest in bidding, please get your bidding credentials up and ready.
    • If you need to review the BaT’s FAQ about how to bid. Get registered and organized well before bidding starts. Don’t be left behind when the checkered flag drops on the auction.

    Cheers,
    Bob Alder, RMVR

We hope! That's the one problem I have with BaT, I don't know why, but they don't tell you exactly when your auction will go live. They seem to do everything else so well, there must be a legit reason!

Stay tuned! And thanks for your interest.

We're working with BAT now. We have approved the ad copy, etc. But they tell us when it will actually go alive, hopefully in the next few days. We'll post here ASAP with a link to the auction.

    Thanks for your interest.

I think that is because the email was generated a couple of hours ago, before this auction went live. It might be in tomorrow's email.

Yes, the auction is now live on BAT:
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-elden-mk10-formula-ford/

As a reminder, if you plan on bidding, please get your credentials in order before doing so. The auction will last one week, but don't delay in getting signed up to bid. Those instruction areHERE.

In addition to the BAT auction site. our previous info webpage on the Elden FF is still available. It was written more for the FF cognoscenti as opposed to the requisite BAT ingo in the BAT posting. Read both. Feel free to post any comments or questions on the BAT site and we'll answer quickly. Or, feel free to call 303-981-6364 if you have more complex questions.

Thanks for looking and hopefully considering bidding. Should be fun.

Typically, they are. Some sellers do a long post early in the auction, with their description of the particular car. And in their words, not the BAT formulaic language. It seems to help drive bids. Seller engagement is everything.

ADDED BONUS for winner of this auction: RMVR has just generously donated a free 2025 drivers school weekend to the winning bidder!

    This is a $595 value.

If you already have a competition license and you’re the winning bidder it is a perfect opportunity to practice with your new race car!

    Thanks! Very cool RMVR!

Comments or questions welcome either here or

SOLD - $21,500 going to Morgan Adams Foundation. Fantastic!

Looks like this FF is staying in Colorado. Congratulations buyer "junction CO"

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973- ... mula-ford/

By the way, one of the "comments" on the BAT site gives a link to a video by Randy Pobst driving and narrating a race at High Plains Raceway. As NickArrow said when posting the link. "Obviously not his car, but if you want to see what Formula Ford racing is like, check this!
    https://youtu.be/TjjD-mbdM6A?si=Tnq_ykeWFq1UDUqY&t=310

No kidding! In a borrowed vintage Wink, starting last up to 2nd place (and then only to very well driven more contemporary CF on slicks) and driving a lap time under 2 minutes which VERY people can even come close to doing. Randy's the man.

Very sadly the buyer of this Elden FF last August has recently passed away. ApexSpeed readers may recall that a recently restored Eldon FF was donated to Morgan Adams Foundation by one of our very generous RMVR members. Morgan Adams sold the car via this Bring-A-Trailer auction in August of 2024. Additional pictures and info on the car can be viewed here. It was not raced, only stored, since being purchased. The family is going to sell the car. It is now located in Grand Junction. They are a motivated seller asking $19.000 OBO. The family member handling the sale is Trtisten Potter. He can be contacted at trstnpotter@gmail.com or call him at 239-220-8119.

We say "Very sadly" because the purchaser was an unexpected buyer, a very interesting and grand elderly lady. As written last August about the buyer:
"The buyer was an amazing 76 year old lady., She is a genuine hoot! She's a Grand Junction resident. As she said "I just love cars." She's assembled a modest collection of cars which appeal to her. The Elden Formula Ford is her first and only race car. She does not plan on racing it but rather using it for civic car shows and parades as she does with some the other cars in her collection. Those cars range from a Model T to some '50s cars, an era which appeals to her. Her spirited bidding for the Elden was promoted first and foremost by her very sincere desire to help the mission of the Morgan Adams Foundation. i.e. funding pediatric cancer research. Plus, as she said, "The car was pretty." She's a wonderfully interesting person, full of zest. Morgan Adams and RMVR thank her for her generosity."
So yes, it was very sad that she has passed.

We are UNHAPPY to announce the buyer was unable to close the sale. So, the car is still for sale. As noted the seller is still motivated due to the family circumstances.

Yes, it's on BAT again. The fine folks at BAT were very generous in helping out with the need to re-market the car on behalf of the behalf of the family. It is a terrible story about the extremely neat lady who purchased the car last August in the original auction for charity, the Morgan Adams Foundation (MAF). It is being sold by the family (Not a charity deal this time around.).

RMVR and the member who donated the car to Morgan Adams sure hope to see the car back on track. It is a nice restoration oration by a very qualified FF restorer and the car should be raced. God love the lady who purchased it, but she wasn't going to race it and family members have no interest in racing it.

As an aside, RMVR is again having its annual charity event, The 15th Annual Race Against Kids' Cancer. This year the date is Sept. 27-28. A better time of year for weather! (Previously it had been a June/July deal -- i.e. hot! ) This year's even will be the 15th year in partnership with MAF, a wonderful charity, a wonderful event. If someone buys the Elden and could enter it in that weekend, we'd sure treat them as royalty given the car's unique backstory with Morgan Adams and RMVR.
