Default SOLO2 DL Reynard FF Kent questions

Hello. Wondering if I could get some suggestions / ideas from experienced users of the Solo2 DL. I'm fairly new to it, installed in a Reynard FF 1600, Kent engine. My question is in regards to the RPM graph on the Time-Distance page. The RPM graph acts very erratically, and goes to '0' rpm at various times from idle through full throttle. Also, when setting up the Solo, in order to get some sort of realistic values for the RPM graph, in the RPM 'Channels Settings', I had to set 'Value A' to 6.8, in order to get an RPM reading that was close to RPM's on the tach. I have swapped to a different RPM cable, but get the same results. I have reached out to AIMSport, but have received no response.

I have seen other FF Kent RPM graphs, that bounce up & down a little, but not as erratically as mine.

Details on my installation: Reynard FF 1600 Kent, Bosch distributor, Petronix Ignitor update kit for the Bosch installed, Petronix ignition coil, 3.0 ohms (Petronix #40611), RPM cable (white to coil -ve, red to power, black to chassis ground), Powersonic PS-1218NB battery.

Attached is an photo taken in RaceStudio 3. Thank you for any suggestions or ideas.

I think you meant black for ground.

Make sure the cable isn't parallel with another cable that would cause a lot of EMI (trigger, primary plug wires, etc). Y

You're trace looks like it's logging very slow. I would try an RPM filter https://trailbrake.com/aim-coil-adap...ery=rpm+filter

In devices with a speed input (won't work for you) I put in a speed sensor off the crank.

Yes, black to ground. Thanks for the suggestion & heads-up on Trailbrake. Will check them out.

In full disclosure, I own TrailBrake. That is a standard AiM part. You could try a newer RPM to CAN adapter, but the device is the same and the setup is a little more involved.

Thank you romoman. Think you may have pinpointed the problem. My RPM cable runs parallel to the distributor cap-to-coil wire, and both are in close contact coming away from the distributor. Will re-route them & ensure some separation in between.

Lots of nice goodies at Trailbrake, that I didn't know were available. Hmmm ...

I would start with moving the wire and see how it goes.

I try to have everything AiM sells and other items to compliment data systems. If you haven't seen, I have a bunch of videos on YT and AiM has a great series of Tech Tips and webinars.
