    Default Zink rear suspension question

I purchased a Zink in January that hasn't been raced in years. I'm new to FV and am trying to sort out what's right and wrong on the car. One of the first things found was that the Z-bar is missing. I've been comparing pics of the suspension in my Zink to those in other cars. Here's a pic from my car after I mounted a Z-bar-there is no suitable location for mounting the lower end of the vertical rod.

Pictures from other Vees appear to have had the outer hub modified with the "horn" removed or they are a completely different part. What's the proper way to attack this? Thanks for your input.

    Default Z bar

That "horn" is the original shock mount on a street VW.
    It can be cut off.
Usually the link that you are questioning is attached to the upper bolt that attaches the trailing arm ( the part with the three holes) and the axle tube end casting.
Hope that helps. Number below if you need more info.

Thanks, Dietmar, I wanted to confirm that before breaking out the plasma cutter. I plan to call you to discuss some work. I found your web site a week or so ago and have been drawing up a list of things to address on the spare 1200 engine.

When you cut off the old VW "horn", that will expose both sides of the hole in the trailing arm that is just above the mounting hole, and that is where the link attaches:

    (Dietmar is an excellent resource)
