Default how to watch Indycar now?

"In the new partnership with FOX, IndyCar races will be aired exclusively on the big network – a first for the series in generations — while practice and qualifying sessions will be shown on the FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 cable channels. Live streaming for all on-track activity is also available on the FOX Sports app for those with cable, and a variety of streaming subscriptions."

So I'm cable-tv-less, does anyone know which of the "variety of streaming subscriptions" are taking over from Peacock?

    thanks

Leave it to technology to make something as simple as watching TV impossible for figure out. I dropped cable about a year ago and now I can never figure out how to watch anything anymore. It took me hours to figure out how to get ESPN to watch the F1 races, as it's all linked to my Disney+ account somehow but when I go to the Disney+ app on my TV it doesn't have options for ESPN. So damn confusing. I haven't watched an F1 race in 2 years since I can't figure out how

Peacock was simple. I have the app for Supercross and Indycar racing. Now I have to figure out how to get Fox sports. But if I want to watch qualifying, I need Fox Sports 1 or Fox Sports 2, not Fox Sports. WTF. I'm going back to antenna.

Good question! Was trying to figure it out myself just this morning.

I have an antenna that I'll use the for the big races, but would love to watch practices and qualifications somehow but I don't have cable (and never will again). Best I could find was that I should subscribe to YouTubeTV or FuboTV; NO, THANKS.

At that price I’d just go to the track.

We have a friend running Carrera Cup, please tell me it’s still on Peacock!

That's some serious browser support. You invested in Mozilla or something?

I have noticed that, since switching from Chrome browser/google search to Firefox browser/duckduckgo search, the volume of emails that I receive touting products related to my searches has fallen off dramatically.

If you arent using some sort of ad blocking you’re already stuck in the weeds. Chrome definitely collects the most data. Easily prevented with something like ublock origin though.

The latest version of Chromium (Manifest V3) disables adblockers like ublock origin (my go-to ad blocker). That was what finally got me off the dime, and switching to Firefox, which still supports ublock origin. That, plus Privacy Badger, and I have a better online experience.

    Well,

I think I signed up for Fox sports to watch the Indycar race. I sat down last night to watch it in replay, only to find the replay was not available on Fox Sports. However, they were nice enough to show thumbnails and headlines of the winner on the same page I was searching for the replay, so now the replay is no longer needed I suppose. If I can't sit down and watch the replay on demand a few hours after the race I won't be watching them.

Peacock was easy - replays were available about an hour after the race ended. Super easy to find.

Fwiw, I don’t think you missed too much. I felt like there was a whole lot of huffing and puffing about how much better Fox was going to be but they really fell short in my opinion. To be fair, I actually really liked Diffey/Bell/Hinch over the past few years at NBC. I honestly felt that they were the most watchable booth of any professional motorsports. Far more enjoyable than Nascar and easier on the ears than getting yelled at for 2 hrs of F1.

Other than the gaps between the cars in the final stint, Fox had little-to-no T&S info on the broadcast. Near the end they said “Newgarden just set fastest race lap” but didn’t show any lap times the whole broadcast. No pit stop timer either. They fisher-priced the hell out of the graphics though, cartoons drawings of drivers and this ridiculous display over the whole windshield when showing onboards. Personally I felt like those of us who are racers don’t need to know what direction the next corner goes, what number it is, and how many feet away it is in real time. Just look up; you’ll see it. Most of the info on that graphic is perfectly readable on the drivers steering wheel so it’s redundant to have it on another graphic just above it. They had the positions filling 1/3 of the screen on the left side the whole time and only sporadically would they mention who was on what tires rather than a simple colored box like NBC to let you know who’s on blacks or reds (greens in this case). No recap of qualifying, nothing about the build up to the opening race of the season, but we got a great interview of some sportsball player sounding almost believably scared on his two seater ride.

I felt like Will Buxton really showed his lack of knowledge of Indycar. As much as I was happy that Bell and Hinch were there, the color guys can’t make up for poor play-by-play. The booth barely touched on strategies and who was in which group of strategy (something NBC always made an effort to do; if not always correctly, they at least always tried), and the pre-race talked nothing of last season or which drivers switched teams, new liveries, etc. It was as if this was a new series that Fox came up with in December and were debuting it for the world.

I’m a big Indycar fan. It’s my favorite series by far and I really hope they can turn this around as the season rolls on. Although I’m partially afraid that Fox does things the Fox way and I’ve already witnessed its final form.

I kind of laughed when I opened Chrome today and it bit me in the ass by telling me ublock is no longer supported. It still works, at least for now, you just have to tell it to keep it on in the extension page. Or at least that worked for me. But still...

I use Opera and have for at least 20 years, but every once in a while I need Chrome. That said, I don't watch F1 Tv via a browser anyways. I use the app via Apple Tv and a few Roku's. Works great!

I watched the entire IC race albeit on a bit of a delay via antenna and my dvr. I thought the coverage was good. No worse than before. lol

I've never cared for Buxton. Contrary to popular belief, it's not because him and I had a tuft on the internet 20 years ago. Let's just hope Danica doesn't end up on a mic.

If you don’t mind waiting a day, the entire race was on standard YouTube as of Monday afternoon.
Plus the highlights from each practice session, qualifying session and the race are shown the same day, albeit delayed a bit.
Pretty much the way I get my F1 fix also.

LOL, I recall that about 50 years ago, Roebling* always had a race the same day as the Indy 500 that was on TV but tape delayed broadcast. So, we would finish our racing, then race home so we could watch as though it were live, and maintaining radio silence the whole way

*Savannah International Raceway then I think. With the really nice seashell paving mixture
