It's been a long time since I raced there, but I really liked it. That was where I first drove the Z16 (early 1980) and beat Bertil Roos, outbraking him off the pit straight into the loop area. That was the 1st time I had been able to do that.

Dave, you probably wouldn't like the final design. More importantly, you wouldn't like what it looks like now.
My sources (who were there yesterday inspecting it) say it's a wreck. All the fencing has been removed, and the buildings have been graffitied and vandalized. The estimate was $5-10MM just to bring it back to race trim, not including the purchase price. This doesn't take into account there's no water or sewer, etc.
It's platted for up to 2MM sq/ft of industrial (but there's a glut of that nearby right now). I can't see how it could possibly be economically viable as a racetrack at those numbers.

In memory of Joe Stimola and Glenn Phillips
I was just reminiscing - I didn't really think it would be resurrected as a race track.

Word is part of the track, after it was closed, was torn up to prevent people from sneaking out on it to turn laps.
There was a 'plan' about 18 years ago to build and sell condos at the track.........which is out in the swamps.
The configuration was altered several times to appease the NHRA such that what was a fairly interesting track decades ago became less and less of a challenge

Sad end to what was a nice place for club racing, at least I thought so back in the late 70's.
Sad to see it in this state. Not that it is all about me, but I could roll out of bed at 7:30AM and be there at 7:50. No hotel bills, or long tow. And there were times that I did not sweat it trying to stuff every spare part that I had in the trailer, knowing that I could easily drive home to get it.
