Default CFR Cabin Fever Cure 2025 Bonus Majors February 7-9, 2025

    Morning All,

The Central Florida Region (CFR) has added a Bonus Majors event for the FF, F6 and FV racers, at Sebring. This Bonus Majors event
was added after they were removed from the Hoosier Super Tour (HST). Apparently the F6 and FV racers are not taking the dismissal from the HST seriously. As of 23 January, there are 10 FF entries and only 1 each F6 and FV. The FF guys are stepping up to show Topeka that they are serious about being included in future HST events. As for the F6 and FV racers not so much. This is showing that Topeka was right about removing them from the HST.

So other than a F6 driver and I, who else will stand up for the FV/F6 community. I know there are 6 active regional FV racers in the CFR but where are the national level racers? There was an outcry on this site about being removed, but I do not see the commitment to do anything about it other than play lip service. Stop complaining about things and do something about it. Come out and race and have fun!

"This is showing that Topeka was right about removing them from the HST."

Respectfully, I disagree with this assessment. Look at the weekend schedule and see if you can understand why FV drivers might choose not to participate.

Currently there are 19 FV's already signed up for another event that weekend.

Not trying to piss people off but if you read other threads here people were upset that the FV, F6 and FF were removed from the HST.

"Currently there are 19 FV's already signed up for another event that weekend."

So, is this other event an HST or Major event? If not, then you all are contributing to the demise of FV.

I do not make up schedules I only state facts. If you all really wanted to keep FV in the HST the Cabin fever Cure would be more important than another event.

    As of 24 Jan, 10 FF's, 2 FV's and 1 F6 are signed up.

As I have said in another thread, the late announcement of this race when other schedules had already been announced, meant that it was too late to change peoples plans.

The FV drivers are focusing on the Midwest FV events in order to bring up the numbers, as that is where most of the cars are.

It is great that FF has a good turnout - I am not quite sure where they all came from, but since any alternate FF series does not start until March, it might explain the good turnout

The Driverz Cup is an attempt to jump start FV by itself, it was started before the Super Tour controversy. The fact that there were no FV's at Homestead, shows there is a problem with the area, not necessarily the race. The DriverZ Cup seems to be pulling from more northerly areas of the South.

We were down to less than 10 cars actively running in New England. We spent 5 years contacting every car owner, promoting the class to new drivers, and working to establish our own race group to build it up. We now average around 25 cars per race with about 50 drivers on our yearly roster.

It used to be that the Florida Nationals used to be a big draw from the NE. When West Palm (available for sale again) and Sebring were tied together, and the entry fees were reasonable, many drivers from the NE would tow to Florida. With the closure of West Palm (Moroso) and the Majors and Super Tour entry fees, these events have lost their luster.

Every entry helps and the 3 entered FV's adds to the yearly numbers. After the race, get on the phone with the guys who are not at Sebring OR Roebling Road and start working on building up the area. You need a strong regional program before you can have a strong Major's program. Two years ago we sent 7 drivers from the NE to the Runoffs and 4 were graduates of the regional program.

Let us know if you need some ideas on how to make this happen.

Have fun and watch out for the FC cars!

You can contact me every single day .. and twice on Sundays, but, as I've stated many times before, I will NOT be attending ANY SCCA (or any other sanctioning group) events that are "all open wheel cars" in a single group.
The 'Bonus Majors' as presented by SCCA HQ were going to be a 'copy' of the F/V/6 group of HSTs in previous years. The regions have chosen to ignore that 'intention' and still find it necessary to include ALL OPEN WHEEL cars in the same racing group - regardless of what they call it.

Nope. Dangerous enough Vee racing with FF and F6. No way am I attending with 'x number' of other OW classes to that group.

If you want to see Vee numbers, look at the 'opposing' group pointed out in posts above. WHY do you think vee are going to THAT race instead of this one... ? Can't you SEE why?

This is not the 'demise' of FV.. this is FV showing SCCA that we choose to race where racing is Markedly LESS DANGEROUS for us.
