Default Majors Call for FF - MSR Cresson and Eagles Canyon

I will start a thread for each of the Southern and Mid States majors as they approach. As your local events approach please start a similar thread identifying the event and your interest in participation/promoting the event for FF. Here is the link to the SCCA Majors page: https://www.scca.com/majors

These threads will provide a good forum to highlight these events in advance and roll call/encourage/offer rides/etc for FF drivers.

I have two cars and hope to have two entered at most of these majors during the year. Last year my team accounted for 12 majors entries, I am shooting for a minimum of 16 this year. I have additional crew I can bring in for these events if you want to paddock with us. Even if you don't want to hire us - be assured our trailer/spares/parts/tools are always open to any competitor.

Please do the same for your local events and let's turn this HST decision into a driving force for positive growth and competition with a focus on green to checker driving, community and assistance to the our fellow competitors.

    Southwest Division winter races:
    January 17-19 Motorsports Ranch Cresson
    February 21-25 Eagles Canyon Raceway

    Default

    Jay,

Im hoping to make both events. 2024 was an interesting year and life's prioritizations kept me from racing. But as wise old man cautioned me a few years ago, "there are more broke and divorced has-been racers than there are Indy Car champions".

On the positive side, I have over 3 weeks of vacation left to take this year so I should make some headway on getting a car together soon. If I come up short and you have a seat empty I would gladly fill it. Otherwise, I will stand at a corner station and wave flags at you.

    See you then,
    Matt Boian

Default Majors Roll Call Cresson and Eagles Canyon

    Great Matt.

As of now I have a seat available for testing and races. We also hope to bring a driver in the Van Diemen FC. I could be busy!

Default MSR was Cold but Fun!

Bump this thread - Matt Boian and I were the only two who braved the 42 degree Saturday and 32 degree race temp on Sunday but the Sunshine blessed us both days and the surface at Cresson had significant grip to my surprise. Matt set a new lap record on Saturday after running under it during his shake down of the car on Friday. Some shake down Matt!

Both Matt's and my car were down to the frame two weeks prior to the race - we both rebuilt our cars, including new floors and new fresh motors for the weekend so we were both watching for any sign of a problem. NONE! both cars ran flawlessly all weekend which was great.

Saturday we were mixed in with the SRF so a lot of caution was in order. It turned out fine with Matt having the good measure of me all race long. Sunday we did a split start and it worked out perfect. Minimal traffic and a race long duel. We had both discussed pulling off at half way due to the cold. I had on two balaclavas, two undershirts, two sets of gloves - get the picture? Funny how the best plan in war gets thrown out the window when the first shot is fired. We started racing and gradually the times started falling. By 1/2 way were both in a heated battle and getting close to full tilt race times. Neither pulled off and we had a great race to the end. I led a couple of segments of the race and Matt led the part that mattered. Both car were spotless at the end of the race and it was a great time for both of us to get our groove back.

Next up is Eagles Canyon in late February. Current verbal commitments are six cars - we will see if anyone wimps out - it is a great drivers track with nice amenities. I have free gearing and setup advice plus car provide at track support. Please join us and let's keep this ball rollin'
