    Default Virtual PC to AIM

I have a MacBook that I want to connect to my AIM Evo4 using a virtual machine (VM). The VM finds the USB port but RaceStudio 2 doesn’t. AIM’s answer was to use a real PC, which does work. I’d like to carry just the MacBook and not have the PC around for just this one application, but maybe that’s how it is.
    Anyone have luck doing this?

Please don’t hate. I know PC is about 5:1 vs Apple so it isn’t supported and the Evo4 is old too (not 4s).

You didn't mention which VM platform you are using.

Most have some configuration options for the USB port.

The issue is likely that the USB port is being 'shared' by the host and the VM. What you need to do is edit the VM hardware config and give the VM exclusive use of the USB port.

That way the 'PnP' signalling will not be consumed by the host and will be passed to the VM.

I had no issues running the AIM software with bootcamp on an Intel Macbook.

I did do some self inflicted harm with a partition scheme that resulted in a multi-month loss of use while we figured out how to recover the data. An update destroyed critical data that showed where the main account was (on another partition) and made that partition inaccessible....

I’m using Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager running Windows 10.

My local computer helper thinks the VM is finding the USB because the computer makes a chime noise when I click on the USB icon in the tool tray so he thinks the issue is with AIM, but I’m over my head already.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

That's likely worse than a local VM.

It's likely seeing it, but most VMs try to share hardware ports, but the conversation between the host OS and the VM as to who is going to handle the PnP request is taking too long.
If you define the port exclusive to the VM it might have a chance.
    Maybe this will help:

I always connect the USB cable before I run the AIM software.
