    Default Zink FV wiring schematic

    Good morning,
I am in the process of re-wiring my 68 Zink (original harness came in a plastic bag), and I am using a Painless Performance wiring kit for the job. Currently it has 3 gauges (Tach, Oil temp, and Oil pressure + toggle start switch, Ignition switch and gauges power on/off switch). The wiring kit has a MIDI fuse and a ballast resistor; use yes/no? I am adding a kill switch and a fuse for the power line from the kill switch to the ignition switch (see picture below) as well and this is what I am coming up with.
I will appreciate comments on the design or solutions/options to do the job and if I should add the MIDI fuse and resistor.
    Thanks

    Default Another way

Use the ground to the kill switch instead of positive.
The starter solenoid does not need constant positive.
The positive should go directly to the starter.
Then run the wiring as normal.

So, you recommend to change on the Ignition Switch, the wire that comes from the kill, positive + to a ground location?, Then continue with the bridge from ignition to the start/toggle switch and from the start switch to the starter solenoid?
The starter switch is a toggle switch, so it will not be a constant current to the starter solenoid, but rather an on/off with the toggle motion (my thinking).
As for the starter, no need to run the power thru the kill switch, but rather a direct line from the battery + to the starter?

I am more of a mechanical guy than electrical!

    Thank you for your help.

You might consider having the starter switch with direct power. That way you can crank the engine without the ign on. Helps to build oil pressure before firing it up.

Barry's schematic above seems to cover all the bases that need to be covered.. nicely
