    Default Tom Christ

My text to Tom last night was replied to by his wife saying that he had unexpectedly passed away Wed night. I think I'm still in a little shock and denial.

I bought my first race car from Tom, a DB1 roller. Tom took literally hundreds of calls and emails helping me put it together, then helped me learn to drive it faster and faster. I didn't know what a history he had in racing but I later learned he not only drove in early FF, he later graduated to FB. He was a long time competitor out of Racine, WI and when he finally retired, I bought his last darling, one of the last DB6s made that he had converted to FF.

Tom was a great example of how to act not only at the track but with new people coming into the sport. I will miss him.

That is sad to learn. Tom was very quick in those DB1's and, as you say, was quite the gentleman racer. My thoughts and prayers are with Tom's family and friends.

    Default Tom Christ

Tom was very helpful to me when we were both restoring Brabham BT38s in the early 1990s. He was an international pilot for Continental Airlines. He told me that he was scheduling a trip to the UK and did I need any parts (as he was making an order).
Sure I did, and a month or two later new pieces sourced thru Peter Denty arrived. I never met Tom, but clearly he was a special guy.

    Default Sad news indeed.

Just home from the track and checking in to see what up. That is terrible to hear, that is me in the black DB6 in one of my rare visits to the Florida nationals and Tom was giving me all I could handle that weekend. We were lined up on the grid and he walked up and sat in his qualifying spot next to me for race 2 of the weekend. His car had some sort of mechanical failure and he wasn't going to make the start. He was great to race with and a real character out of the car. Enjoyed our brief encounters. Condolences to his family and friends.

    Brian.
