Want to dismantle my Titan Dry Sump pump to clean and inspect it.
On reassembly, does anyone use any sort of dimensionless sealant or anything between the housing pieces or do you just slap it together?
Thanks-

I re-built the Titan series 1 pump on my FC a couple of months ago. I went to a local hydraulic supply shop and bought all the o-rings needed. There are large, thin, o-rings between housing sections, o-rings on at the front of shaft, and o-rings on the intake pipes.
I also picked up two new front bearings and a rear seal at a local bearing supplier.
I think I spent about $30 on all the new parts I needed.
I dont think its necessary to use any sealant on pump components if o-rings are in good condition. I did use some break-in lube for re-assembly. Be sure you replace rotors in correct position. One side is slightly beveled so that it runs smoothly up against housing face.
Pump O-rings should be Viton.

Sorry should have clarified. It's a 5-port, side-mount. Only o-ring I know of is the scavenge pipe.
I have used Hylomar for over 25 years with no issues at all.
I like the Permatex Ultra blue or grey for this type of thing, but I think any of the RTV gasket makers are good.

Eric,
I always used Hylosil RTV, a silicone sealant with properties like Ultra Blue and not your normal RTV silicone sealer. But I like the Hylomar idea. It won't take much, so use a very thin coat.
I use Loctite Master gasket, just a smear, same with the three rotor F/C type pumps, with the good oil resistant "O" rings.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Appreciate it!
Okay, so I used some flange sealant and it seems to have done the trick. However, on the dyno, I have a pretty serious leak out of the adjustment screw. I never touched this in the rebuild. Any ideas on how to make it stop? Jam nut is in place.
I believe you need a "stat-o-seal" o-ring washer under the nut.

Stephen, that would make sense. Thank you very much.
Eric
Bevels face the housing sides and sharp edges face the separator plate. Todd
