    Please let me know if you decide to. My vote on the paint keep it old school.

    Update on the Merlyn project. I took the frame to a local shop that specializes in formula car repair / restoration. They set it up on the frame table and it checked out to be good & straight. There were two diagonal tubes (under the engine bay) to repair on the bottom of the car. The top tubes were hydro tested and are good. It’s now time for the powder coater!

    I believe what Roland is referring to is that powdercoating can mask fractures in the steel and/or weldments. A light color paint would show any imperfections more easily.

    Hey Jeff, I'm curious if you have made any progress with the restoration of the Merlyn. Any updates for us?

    Doug,

    Here it is. Just finished about 3 weeks ago. I won't be racing it this year but plan to do the Tour of RA at the VSCDA Fall Fest.

    Awesome!!! I like the more vintage paint scheme than the acid trip induced paint scheme that the painter my dad had done to the car!

    Holy cow, that is one beautiful race car Jeff. Amazing. Now I want one just to park in my garage and stare at it.

    Best of luck with it.

    So much LIKE!

    Jeff, please don't ever sell this car without getting a hold of one of us Carters first. I think that any one of us would love the opportunity to re-acquire this Merlyn.

    Thanks guys! and yes, the Carter's would definitely have first crack at the car. But I'm too much in love with it right now to even think about selling it.

    Default How did this Merlin-MK25 turn out?

    OK, I wanted to finally put closure to this discussion of the Lost Merlyn. I was the person corresponding with the Carters on their old racer from the 80's. The bodywork needed really major work to the gelcoat so I went another way with the paint scheme. Here is the car today after the complete restoration.

    I did a driver's school and raced it in a few VSCDA races. in 2016/2017 . Nothing since. I am planning to put it for sale this year ;

    Ah, ok. I can't really say if we'll be in a position to purchase, but please let us know when the time comes.
