Gents;
Close to assembling my RF-95. The front and rear wings are stock aluminum, semi lustrous. I have noticed a vast variety of pro cars paint their aero in dark colors. Justification?

Nothing that effects performance. Pick the color you like
Perhaps a bright white rear wing is more likely to highlight a new engine oil leak to the marshals? Just a guess

Sorry. Simply an honest question.

Thanks for posting the link Rick, very cool stuff!

Read this post on April 1. Seems that in extensive tests it has been discovered black wings absorb more sunlight, thus getting hotter. This heat excites the molecules of air close to the surface of the wing causing the boundary layer to be more exited and causing less friction.
To promote this even more, it is rumored Red Bull employs electric heating elements in their wings activated by the brake pedal pressure.
I read all this in the lobby of a Holiday Inn Express.
And carbon always tells the air the best way to flow. Even with the rotated photo
I am sorry I wasted everyone’s time. Moderators, please expunge this post.

You’ve done nothing of the sort.
I’ve wondered myself about color vs. heat vs. drag... but am a curious sort by nature (artists!), and we’re probably talking tenths of thousandths to gain, if there’s any benefit at all.
My last kart used “carbon-look” bodywork, so love the graphic effects of that and the film you posted. Thought it interesting that the first three “burlappy” colors were listed as difficult to apply, and the carbon films to follow were easy to apply. Something to know if I ever bought any for any curving panels.

For what it's worth, i played around with lots of different vinyl wrapping materials a few years ago. I'm far from a professional, but i found the vivid brand you highlighted the most difficult to apply. The two best i found were 3M 1080/2080 series and Avery SW900 series. Both are available in a range of colors.
+1 to that, have recently been through using bits of these to put a design scheme on my new helmet... and have been very happy with the products and service from Metro Car Restyling: https://metrorestyling.com/collectio...ber-vinyl-wrap
