Default Long Beach Indy Car Results

I am not a Penske fan, but the first 3 races of the 2022 Indycar season have been very competitive and the 3 Penske teams have been killer. Josef Newgarden's drive at Long Beach was monstrous. Lots of young blood in the Series who are spectacular, but Josef just digs down and finds a way to get it done. Several times in the last few years, it looked like his strategy was coming undone, he was in big trouble, and when the race is over, he is drinking champagne. He is American, well-spoken, and a beast!

If you are watching other racing, and not following Indycar, do yourself a favor, and check it out. Next event is Barber on the May 1 weekend.

He's a super friendly guy too. I've had a few interactions with him thru work functions and he's incredibly friendly, outgoing and he even managed to remember who I was months between interactions (which for as much face time those guys have with PR responsibilities impressed me the most). Super talented guy and glad to see him at the pointy end on the regular.

Totally agree Greg. The way he fended off Palou on cold tires and then Grosjean at the end was great, He didn’t chop or block them, just held his station and fought them off with pace. And best of all they were all essentially out of push to pass so you know it was a straight fight. I have really enjoyed the races Indycar has had for the past few seasons.

    That Podcast is great.
his first racing vehicle was a motorized scooter, that he competed with and I think won the scooter national championship!

+1 about his skills and his friendliness! After a divorce-induced hiatus from racing, I made it back for the SCCA's attempt at a 45th Anniversary event at Barber. The only American winner of the UK Festival was there for the Sunday race and despite starting last, won it all with a new lap record. He stood there for pictures and chit chat till I had to get my car back and my boys fed. I'm truly a fan.

I was the "color commentator" on the PA system during the race at Barber Garey mentions. It was a very impressive drive. But, what might have been more impressive was the question and answer session he held that weekend. He presented himself as a class act. I've been a fan since.

All that nice guy stuff is nice, but the guy can drive a race car! That's why I am a fan. Many people drool over some of Hamilton's or Verstappen's digging deep performances, but Newgarden's drive at Long beach was on par with those, and he was racing a dozen others rather than 1 or 2 others, as in a typical F1 event.
