Can anybody suggest a battery for the Vee I'm putting together? Is anybody using Lithium?
Thanks,

When I was working tech, I saw formula cars with brands like Shoreai, AntiGravity and Braille, as I recall. They all seemed to work OK.
Most folks in Challenge Cup Series use agm or Gel Cell.
14-20 Amp batteries seem to work fine.
Although the lithium are light they need to monitored while
charging and are expensive.
I just bought this on the recommendation of another vee driver:

If weight is not an issue (12lbs vs 3lbs), I have been using this for a couple years:

With lithium you want Lifepo4, not lithium ion. They can be charged normally too just be mindful not to over charge them. But you do need to balance the cells occasionally to ensure longevity which does require a special charger. You also can't trickle/float charge them with normal chargers... i believe.

The "special chargers" while not required are also not that expensive. I see no reason why anyone wants a big heavy battery when small light ones are available.

I notice a lot of the lithium batteries mention they're not intended for "total loss" systems without alternators. Do you need to be careful about discharge levels?
Not uncommon for lithium cells to have built in protection on the low side.
Is the output of the alternator correct for a lithium battery max voltage (Lifepo4) of 12.6v/3cell or 16.8/4cell groupings?
