    Default Corona Cup Event #18 - 7/28/2020 USF2K 2017 @ NOLA

Sorry for the delay! Tuesday we will be hitting NOLA! Come on out and race with us!

    Some things to remember:

Remember to please use your real first and last name before joining the server. By default, rFactor2 will use your Steam account name, but you can edit your name next to your "Nickname" within rFactor2 in the upper right corner of the landing page where you select your option for single or multi-player.

It is suggested that everyone log into the Discord channel for chat. Discord is a Skype type of application used by gamers. You'll need to install and enter the ApexSpeed.com Sim Racing room linked below. https://discordapp.com/

Please bind a key for "Push to talk" in Discord so that others don't have to hear unnecessary noise you broadcast to the room. We don't need to hear that you screwed up, your shifters clicking, your simulated wind noise, or that your dog wants to go outside. Instructions for doing this are here: https://appuals.com/enable-configure-push-talk-discord/

Now that the group is getting bigger, please refrain from unnecessary voice chat during qualifying and the race. Some of us can't pat their head and rub their belly at the same time, so please be considerate to that and only use voice chat during qualifying or racing for race related discussion like alerting people you're pulling out of the pit lane, a request to restart a race (like we had last night), or a huge pileup in T1, etc...

    Server Name: ApexSpeed
    Passw: rfactor2

Driving aids allowed: Invulnerability, Auto Blip, Auto Clutch

Discord Room: https://discord.gg/PnYjbmh - Please bind a key for "Push to talk".

Please subscribe to the car and track in your Steam account before loading rFactor2 and you'll automatically get the car and track installed when you join the server.

Someone is going to need to explain points to me?

    1st: 10pts
    2nd: 10pts
    3rd: 11pts

I understand that Michai would get all the bonus points for fastest lap, Pole, Most laps lead etc but still don't know how that makes Keith and I the same amount?

I didn't tinker too much from the default of what was set with the dashboard software, but here is the current config. I'm not sure exactly what all the options mean. Since there isn't really a set schedule or an ending date, point's aren't too relevant. Maybe the next round.

It looks like I got a point for most consistent "Average deviation from drivers fastest lap"

I'm not sure which awards we'll keep or get rid of when we have a real points chase. Maybe we'll take a vote to see what the majority want. It may be good incentive for anyone in the pack to get points even if they aren't on the podium.

    I vote for:

    Pole - 1 point
    Fastest Lap - 1 point

I don't have a problem with any of the bonus points, I think the consistency is an interesting one. A way to make it so it's not so impactful could be to increase the difference of points between positions. That way 3rd place wouldn't be able to get more than 1st.

I've loosely been following the points throughout this. Are we going to do an organized championship at some point? Maybe post run-offs for the off season?

Consistency is interesting and is usually rewarded with this group with at least a top 5 finish! In previous leagues, I've struggled to get a good point award system and just went with something else I found online. The problem with increasing the difference of points between top positions is that after the first several races, the usual suspects at the pointy end of the grid are so far gone in points that nobody else shows up to race anymore and I'm left running a league with 4 people... I'd like to avoid that. I do plan on a real organized championship to start (October-ish) after the real Runoffs are over. Maybe for this next league coming in the Fall, I wonder if people would be interested in doing a cash donation of $20 or so each to a pot (whatever denomination everyone votes is doable) and we pay out based on a voted points system with a set schedule (a league that has an actual ending, LOL) with a couple race drop so that people can miss races and still be in the hunt.

Keith, I am definitely interested in your idea of a post runoffs league.
