Bob Schader was kind of the expert on them.
He ran one quite successfully in 1983 and maybe 1984 before moving to S2000. IIRC, one of the first FF designs turned into F2000.
I went GB to race in 1982 at Snetterton and Brands Hatch in FF1600 and while at the VD Factory, I saw them putting the final touchs on the SVee chassis (one of two I believe) being built for Bob and based upon the RF82/1982 NOT 1983 model [did not look at the dash plate]- Had a long chat with David Baldwin who explained the aero re: addition of ground effect tunnels, etc and the engineering the change from FF2000 to SVee (all the time I'm suggesting I could use a set of tunnels on my FF1600 car) Ralph Firman was more interested in chatting up my new young bride LOL ! I took alot of slides/not-photos - this weekend I 'll see If I can find them BUT how would I post except I guess pay to print then scan and post ?

Greetings - I know it's been 5 years since we talked about your pics of my car being made at the VD factory , but was wondering if you ever found them? Thanks ! Bruce Weatherston racer60429@peoplepc.com
Going from memory here: there were two VD Super Vees for Bob Schader and Bob Earl for the '83 Long Beach race. As I recall, the cars were run out of Bill Fickling's P1 Racing shop in SoCal at least for that event. Schader ran most of the races that season and, I think, got at least one top 10. He was joined in the effor after LB by Ted Dillon. I seem to think cars were indeed '82 FF chassis with wings and side pods added. At least one of the cars wound up at P1 afterwards.

I was the painter and sign man on all three of those Super Vees in 1983 -- in lacquer, gold leaf, and One Shot -- and ended up doing the third car for Bob Earl at P1 just before Long Beach.
I say three cars, as Bob Schader also entered an '82 version at Long Beach for Ted Dillon, before Ted took over the '83 car from Earl. Mssr. Schader was my kart racing sponsor and a longtime client, and we're still very much in touch.
Wonderful to read they're still in Colorado and being resurrected! I would love to hear how the car is coming along and if you're restoring it to my color scheme. It's likely I still have the sign patterns, though they're in storage and we live on the road. I'd be able to identify what colors I used on the striping just looking at a color chart.
Bravo!
