    Default '88 Reyard Transponder location

Looking for insights from '87-89 Reynard FC owners as to where they located their transponders. I am restoring a pre-transponder car and do not see an obvious location in front w/o cutting a hole in the floor pan for clean line of sight. That said, A friend with an earlier model Reynard has his AMB mounted horizontally on the aluminum pan with out any issues with tracks picking up his signal. However, when I read AMB's directions, they recommend clear line of sight with the AMB's arrow pointed toward the surface. Am I over thinking this? Pics of transponder location would be great. Thanks

Not the same model car, mine is a Citation F2000, but I have mine mounted on the front of the front bulkhead aiming down between the master cylinders through the bottom of the fiberglass nose. That seems to work fine.

We ran two Reynards for a few years. An '89 and a '90. Just mounted the transponders on the outside of the body work just in back of the lower A-arms. Worked fine there and easy to get to if there were any problems.

My 86 Reynard was mounted same as rickb99. My 94 Van Diemen is on the rear wing mount as shown in the attached photo. It was that way when I bought it. Both have worked fine.

    Default Transponder location

Always up front, typically on either side of the side panel forward of A arm as low as possible Unless you Dave W. then you put it anywhere you want

This works well. Get the mount from your go kart supplier.

I didn't think it would work but mine works great pointed down right through the aluminum and wood floor of my car.

I think because it's so low it's fine.

Since the great Reynard is basically an aero barn compared to modern cars.... I considered the aero drag of a transponder to be immaterial.
So, on all three of my Reynards I mounted it on the outside of left side metal panel in between the two front wishbone mounts.
    Why?
    1. Crash a nose or tail, you don't have to buy a transponder.
    2. i could flip on the ignition switch and see the green light telling me the sucker was working without removing panels, etc.
    3. It didn't show up in most photos. (very important )

OBTW... used zip ties to hold it in place. (purple zip ties of course)
Today I'm wiser... I'd use velcro.
