Default 1997 F250 Heavy Duty Long Bed Diesel

For a friend who couldn't get this to post:

F250 HD LB Extended Cab Diesel, $4800

This truck is in super condition and dead reliable. Never wrecked. White.

Complete rust repair and paint job 2 years ago, new tailgate.

New: Carpet, Headliner, Sun Visors, Windshield, rear fuel tank, the ENTIRE brake system including calipers, rotors, pads, rubber hoses, steel lines except for the master cyl itself, shocks, outside mirrors, alternator and all belt idler pulleys.

Clutch and pressure plate replaced last year.

    Vac pump replaced 2yrs ago.
Class IV receiver, very nice brake controller, 7-pin RV plug

Oil changed every 4k miles, Ford DCA every year.

    Firestone Dueler tires, 90%.

Starts promptly at -9F without block heater.

Gets 20.5 MPG hwy, no load, 12-16 MPG towing 24ft enclosed trailer, speed dependent.
K&N air filter, turbo-back large diameter exhaust, quieter than stock. Rhinoliner bed lining was installed when new and, though dirty, works perfectly.

5spd manual ZF transmission, this is the one you want for towing because the automatic from that time is inadequate. Cruise control in 5th is wonderful, there are very few interstate hills you need 4th for, so you almost never shift.

1997 truck has 222,000 miles on it. Engine starts flawlessly and pulls like a train. No smoke, even at full throttle.

The bad news: It is a HD, which means it has a rear end like the 350, and it rides very stiffly when empty. The engine noise is irritating below 60 mph, because when I had the carpet replaced, they did not install my brand-new rolls of DYNAMAT pads, both for the floor, and for the underside of the hood. I still have them, and it comes with the truck. It also stinks like a diesel when cold, but eases up when warm or fresh off the interstate. It is 2WD, which for towing is never a problem, and gives a tighter turning radius and a smoother ride with very precise steering.

Brent Cary, Indy Region, CM31, 317-373-0374, Indianapolis, IN call or text. Pictures of interior and exterior on request. This truck will haul your stuff and give you ZERO problems for a very long time.

Bought a newer (2014) truck, so this one has to go.
