I can't figure out how to post a link but there is a new and wonderful two part video series (titled: F1 3D Air Flow - The New Era is Upon Us) on motorsport.com with Willem Toet and Craig Scarborough showing the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) depiction of flow around a modern F1 car. It helps one to understand the immense complexity of the front wings and the other aero thingies.
Also provides a good contrast between the basically flat bottomed F1 car and the new Indy Car look which relies on underbody aero for most of it's download.
Enjoy
