Default Helemt still on backorder! Need to make a decision soon.

I need some advice. I ordered a Bell GTX 3 carbon 11/15 and it's STILL on backorder with no real promise time. I really want this Helemt but I can't wait much longer, end of February at latest. I have money down on it so I don't want to just back out. Do I just get the non-carrbon version and have it wrapped or painted? Any other recommendations? Anybody know of a low priced snell2010 or 2015 I can pick up and use until mine arrives?

Bell is backordered in double digits on everysize in those. We are one of the larger Bell dealers and we do not even have an eta. The vender you ordered from should give you your money back if you want to bail out. They should have never taken your money in the first place just to place an order in my opinion. ( shameless plug... We never do that unless the customer really wants to prepay it. With us you pay for it when it arrives and then only if you still want it) I have a couple of sizes of the non carbon GTX3 in stock.

My new Bell GTX.3 (non Carbon) is pretty light (well, compared to my old, just expired SA helmet), so you might be happy with your Plan B (to wrap or paint).

Would be nice to provide an ETA. (BELL....to Pegasus) That would be expected with an expense of that magnitude....regardless of paying or not (so people can anticipate impact to the bank account) - just my opinion.

    Thanks Bob.

I had to put some money down to order the helmet. If I back out completely i'll loose my down payment. They did say I can put that money towards a different helemt if I'd like. But to be honest there are no other helmets im interested in at this time. I have used a previous version GTX 2 for 10 years now and really like it.

I am planning on a drive to you guys in the near future for several items, maybe i'll add a helmet to that list as well.

    Wisconsin? February? Ice racing?

I'd call the chief of tech and ask for a waiver to use your old lid. some clubs are extending 2010 helmet eligibility.

What is their return policy? Buy another helmet from a different vendor and return the ordered helmet the moment it arrives. Another option that is fair to both parties is to negotiate an in-hands date, get it in writing or send them a purchase order they can sign and hold them accountable. Make sure you note a full refund of your deposit if they can't deliver. If they won't work with you, tell them their customer service is lousy and let them know you will be emailing them a link to the poor reviews you give them on multiple racing forums.

I don't start racing til April but I will need time to get the helmet setup with HANS and radio equipment before the season starts so I'd like to allow for up to a month of prep time for that.

My current helmet is a 2005. The allowed me to run it last year knowing that I had ordered a new one and it was on back-order.

It's a local race shop that I have been dealing with for over 10 years and they have been nothing but great to me. I have no intentions of bad mouthing them in any way. They have been willing to help me with another helmet if wanted, it's just that I don't want a different helmet.

I understand that this more of an issue with Bell than it is with the shop. Keeping my fingers crossed I hear something within the next month.

10 years, even more reason for them to make it right and give your money back. Yes, it is an issue will Bell and the race shop should be able to cancel the helmet order with Bell and give you your money back. It's not a custom product.
