Default Crossle 60 Years of Winning-2017

I am hosting the "Crossle 60 Years of Winning" at the June 2017 SVRA Indianapolis Motor Speedway back to back weekends.

In 1987, Crossle held the "30 Years of Winning" and had events at Lime Rock (as the USA venue) and at Kirkistown N.Ireland (their home track) celebrating their heritage and the intoduction of the 30 year Crossle Book.

I contacted SVRA and Paul McMorran (new owner of Crossle) and with 2017 being Crossle's 60th year anniversary and SVRA hosting the World 50th Anniversary of FF...this would be the logical place for the USA Crossle event.

Paul McMorran will be bringing car(s) over for the event and I have been working for a month to get a collection of FF's, FB's, FA's, F5000's, and at least one of all three series of Sportsracers from the 60's (5S, 7S & 9S) . I feel confident that this will be a success from how many have already committed and I look forward to having an awesome party, guest speakers, retired factory guys in attendance, and an all Crossle photo session (Logan Legrand, photographer from Petrolicious, will photograph)

How many Crossle's can we get? Who's in?

Glad to hear it. We will be bringing 3 Crossle FFs up from Albuquerque and have already registered for the first weekend. We have a 20F, a 25F, and a 32F.

My FF left the factory as a 30, but now looks more like a 45 in front. I haven't paid my $ to be there, but am saving pennies.

Paul owns a 1963 Crossle 5S that is the FIRST sportsracer ever produced and was John Crossles' "works" car.

    Default location of this thread?

Mike, I'm wondering if there is a better location for this thread so that more people might see it?

Also, have you talked to SVRA- would they consider mentioning this event on their website as well- it might help them with overall attendance as well. Paul

Default Crossle 60 Years of Winning

I waited to speak with Rick Parent of SVRA after the season championship at COTA and he is now able to start the planning of the Formula Car Event at IMS.

I want to get an idea of the amount of people who are a "planning on coming" and "maybe coming". I think this event will hit max and go to a waiting list. Over 50 formula cars have pre registered as of COTA a few weeks ago...

I should have some more news in few weeks...My plan is to have a "Crossle" party probably Friday evening as the SVRA will have their "big" party Sat evening. I want a group photo shot at the oval start/finish line at some point over weekend.
I explained to Rick that if this is like the FF 40th, there will be several Marque group photos wanted and to be ready/plan for that. My thought/suggestion was to mirror the Mike Rand 40th event as much as possible as it was a success and to get a class "social" director for Vintage FF, Club, Current, and specific Marques with big attendance.

    Default 60 Years of Winning

    Hello all,

Its looking like this event will be spectacular! I am putting together a data base of attendees and would like all interested in racing or even spectating to contact me via email: mdwracer@gmail.com
I will publish a list of attendees and give everyone updates of activities for the event(s).
There should be a wide range of everything Crossle built at this event. Please let me know if you are interested in a community rental garage space(s).

Default Looking for my old Crossle

Apologies for partially high jacking this thread but it seemed like a good place to start.

I would like to locate my old Crossle 32F chassis #18, (red F'glass) which I bought in 1978 from the Canadian dealer located near Toronto. I sold it to another Canadian from Ontario in 1980 - can't remember the details now, but I would like to reunite with it again.

If anyone has any info on this please send me a PM.

    Thanks,

    JeffW

    Default Here is an option...

Good luck Jeff on finding that 32F. Just an FYI, there is a practically PERFECT 32F (chassis #101 of 140) just listed on UK site race-cars direct...Its being listed by Paul McMorran ,owner of Crossle. It had a full restoration (at Crossle) some years ago and is a car from the Tommy Reid collection...and its red, and combined with a great USD to BP exchange rate...We can put that car in a container with the rest of the Crossles coming over

    Default Where are the 16F's?

As I put together the list of attendees, I want to put out a search for stateside 16F's. These were Formula Fords built in 1969 and 1970 and were the first Crossle FF's. Only about 25% of 16F production came to the States... so I'm starting this search early.

It is great to see people working hard this winter to finish those projects and make this event!
My plan is to have representation from most all the models and not just limited to Formula Fords. There will be Crossle FB, F5000, SuperVee, FF2000, and Sportsracers as well!

    Thanks,
    Mike Winebrenner
