    Default KBS mkVII 600 Conversion

Now that the season is over i thought I'd share my project. Bought this KBS mkVII from florida last fall and brought it back up to Chicago. Over last winter I replaced all the old hardware and after a lot of trouble with the 2-stroke got it running for the beginning of this season. I don't think i ever got the oil system on the 2-stroke working quite right and blew the engine up the second time out. So, I moved up my conversion plans and converted the car to run a GSXR-600 over the summer. Got it done in 72 days just before the last race of the year. It ran well enough until it MELTED the muffler. I think I need to get some airflow over the muffler.

It was a lot of fun while it ran. I really have to get used to the paddle shifting, especially without using the clutch. I am looking forward to next season.

Here is a timelapse of the build:

The headers may need some additional airflow unless they're getting enough already. They're in pretty clean air on the 'bike but often don't get any in a car.

    Thanks,

The handling wasnt great, but i sort of suspected it would be. The rear end was too softly sprung, for sure. I didn't have time to do what i watned with the suspension this summer, so im going to work on that this winter. I was having trouble with my gearing and shifting, so i wasn't going anywhere mear as fast i did in the short time with the 2 stroke. I definetly underestimated the amount of extra work shifting was over the cvt.

I plan on raicing mostly in northern illinois, wisonsin, and some michigan but if things go well early i would like to travel to some more central division races. I wish i could have gotten everything together quicker to have gone to midohio next year.

I dont know what the EGT was. I didnt have any data logging on the car yet. I know my water and oils temps didn't go crazy, though. Im going to remove all the sheilding from the muffler and i think divert some air from the after the oil cooler through the back of the side pod.
