Just pondering....how would this play out on Shark Tank?
I first shared Mygale's 2013 newsletter (No 65) with this group in February 2014. This was the first substantial newsletter discussion of their F4 plans. At least the first to which I had taken much notice. That newsletter is attached.
Okay, I cannot take this any more! I've been around SCCA racing since 1956 ( a member on and off), plus I've followed open wheel racing just as long USAC, Champ Car, Indy Car and all the various 'things' that have come along over the years.
BUT, I'm stumped Never heard of FRP what the hell is it?
Googling just brings up fiberglass reinforced plastic.

came from karting at the world level way back when and have taken 3 kids from karts to FC. I also talk often w/kart dads. First a buddy wanted a kart to practice in -inbetween racing so I called a guy I knew and when we got to his shop he showed us the kart. One of 18 all less than 2yrs old! Plus Racks of motors and wheels. I was alittle taken aback even though I knew he was a player. I said out of curiosity just how many classes do you run and he said all the major ones! So... budget question answered! Most or a lot of kids are running multiple classes. They meaning quite a few have the budget.
Talked to another dad last Sunday and asked him whether his boy had entertained open wheel as a progression. His reply was yes they had booked and paid for Skippy but changed their mind. I asked why? You guys run for no money why? No spectators why? How am I to "present" my business much less my son. BTW he runs K&N East and is in the points in top 10! They just ordered 2 new cars. SCCA why? How about a real answer? WKA runs Rock Island (street race) and they can afford the insr. We have none and get exactly the same results and wonder why.
Make it make some sense! Make it have wings. Let the spectators in period. There is interest but you need to listen.
Scca in a few peoples minds IF you don't get this right you will be on the one thread of patience left. Talk all you want about the cash cow aspects you need a strong club and membership as FUNDAMENTAL to business plan.

I haven't a dog in this hunt and cannot afford a turd from one.
Will say that as a daily reader/sometime contributor to ApexSpeed that prior to reading this thread, I have never heard of FRP. I always thought it was the "Mike Rand" FF2000/F1600 series, or FF1600/FF2000 Pro series. One East, one west. I only bring this up, to say that as an active racer, I'm thinking that someone needs to get the information out there as to who is what and where.
If "Daddy" googles "How do I get my kid to the INDY 500?" What comes up?
Just saying....
It's like saying Anderson Promotions instead of USF, Pro Mazda or Indy Lights.
FRP or Formula Race Promotions is the promoter that puts on the F1600 Formula F Championship Series, F2000 Formula Championship Series & Atlantic Championship Series.
Many times FRP has been referred to as the "Rand Series" or F1600/F2000/Atlantic Pro Series. Add another class, F4, it gets even more confusing so referring to FRP keeps things simple as this is the actual promoter seeing as there is going to be potentially other "Pro" F4 Series.

Thanks for clarifying things, BamBam.
The way this reads, if dilution occurs, maybe Honda powered FFs will be more affordable for Club racers. I do not want to see guys that I admire and respect here lose money on their investments, but if folks decide to race wings and things for less money, we all may win financially as Honda powered FFs may trickle down to a dollar level that's affordable to more people. I can't believe how economical it is to run a Pinto powered FC as of late. It took 10 years, but the Zetec has certainly lowered Pinto 2.0L costs .
Google F1600 and their website comes up on top.
Google F2000 and their website comes up 3rd after two guns.
Their media guy is awesome and definitely one of the positives in this mess.

I hope it all works out to benefit open wheel racing at all levels.
Meanwhile, I'll be eating popcorn and watching it all play out while slothing around in my 35F.
Vintage is fun, but it isn't all that inexpensive. I'm at 6K already for the SVRA COTA
"Runoffs" and haven't left the house yet, lol.
A lack of FIA recognition is going to hamper and limit the true potential of the FRP series. When SCCA announces their choice of car that WILL be the only true FIA USF4 car, and you can imagine which car will eventually be made legal for SCCA club racing. This is a long term project, in the short term FRP has the upper hand, but long term that remains to be seen. If the FRP series ends up being the only place statewide to run the Mygale chassis, it will be hard to imagine it taking off.
Hopefully some sort of compromise can be made, not just for the betterment of the competing series, but for the open wheel community as a whole.
The following link is so predictable.

Please everybody, don't be victim of Jon Lewis's latest scam..
I have heard this before, but I don't really understand what the FIA recognition will mean, what value will be added to the racers, and why it matters.
For better or worse, I am sure you are right about this.and you can imagine which car will eventually be made legal for SCCA club racing.
I'd like to see him swing that for $195k.

By the looks of the FC Classifieds section I would say F2000 will be more threatened by F4 than F1600 at this rate.
To be fair, I listed my two f2000s for sale a few days ago due to my general boredom with the class. After a decade running these types of cars it's time to try something else.
F4 had little bearing on that decision (although all the BS it's spawned certainly isn't luring me back).
Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
Among all the fun in this thread I want to remind everyone to sign up for the USF4 email list for the latest updates: http://usf4.com/email-list/
We are also adding "stuff" to the website as we get it. There are PDFs there on the sidebar that may be of interest.
Legacy Autosport has no intention of bailing on our F2000 Mygale project. We would like to build more cars. It is nearing the end of the season and our #1 car that has won 8 out of 10 races, will be for sale at the conclusion of the season, if it doesn't sell it will be available for arrive and drive opportunities. We had hoped to have a second car available for arrive and drive opportunities for the whole season, but chose to develop the #1 car a little first. That and some vendor issues that are now, all figured out, has held up releasing the 2nd. car. It is now nearing completion and hope to see it hit the track this year. We hope to field 1 or 2 F2000 cars next season, and offer customer support to 1 or 2 more cars next season. We would love to see 3 or 4 Mygale F2000 cars dominating the series again next year. To build more cars we need to sell the ones we have. Our cars for sale has nothing to do with F4, strictly about growing F2000. Maybe F4 will actually grow F2000 by getting more people started at a lower cost level. Very few people ever start kart racing by buying an $8k TAG kart or a $10K shifter kart they usually get there feet wet with an entry level used $2k kart at their local track, then some get more and more into it, and progress with more expensive equipment, to regional and national racing. All you doom and gloom guys crack me up!!!
Everyone is realizing they need a Mygale or Citation.
Well I have a Mygale as well that can be purchased for 75KUSD. Sorry I had to undercut you but its a buyers market these days.
ps. send pictures of your left hand side alternator setup as us other Mygalites would like to see how it is did.
Come on Brendan, bored? The answer has been right under your nose in the very next session. Buy a Spectrum, Mygale, whatever and come run with us in F1600 which is anything but boring. It's more like the best racing in my 25 years in FF. F4 could very well develope into a great thing, but F1600 is there right now.
Wow ! We have a thread in the 'F1, INDYCAR, NASCAR' forum section.....all about $40-60,000 race cars and $5-7,000 weekends....over 230 posts.....and almost 12,000 views ! Pretty impressive.
With the Mygale/Ford package not being FIA sanctioned in the United States, will they still adhere to the FIA F4 rules regarding cost caps for chassis/spares etc?
I haven't seen this chassis in person. How is the fit? Do I fit?
