    Default Throttle return spring

    Anyone have a pic handy?

Also on the battery cut off, looks like mine has a plunger kind of style. Can a modern red handle switch be put in instead?

    Default Throttle return

Does not have to be fancy. Most organizations require 2 springs. We'll also assume that the carb is mounted forwards with the throttle cable on the right side of the carb. There should be a "barrel" nut that holds the cable to the carb.

On the Auto D the firewall is too far from the carb so the easiest thing to make is an "L" bracket. Use flat steel, 1" wide, 1/8 thick and bend the end to make an "L"
Drill an 8mm hole on one end ( 5/16 if you do not have metric bits) and two smaller holes 1/8 or less on the bent end. Mount the bracket under the carb. Of course, if the stud is too short this might not work, but it is not difficult to remove the 8mm stud and replace with a longer one. Attach the two springs to the bracket and to the barrel nut and you have return springs. Might have to experiment with the length, but a 4" bracket should be OK.

If you happen to have a True Value store in your area of the country, they carry a spring # 61 that works great for this application.

    Hope this helps
