Sheila had asked as she is the Registrar.
Just in case you've missed announcements in other places we want you to know something pretty exciting about our Gateway event. In order to get FFDA members who live a long way from St Louis a Tow Fund has been setup by the drivers association and funded by a few of our sponsors. FFDA members should go the FFDA Forum for details or call or write me.
This event has real potential and you’ll want to be part of it.

I am a little concerned about team orders in the RGU camp.....
If I am missing anyone let me know.....
Wthout trying to jinx it the weather forecast is looking promising for the race weekend!
Rob - this looks great and I'm bummed to miss it (as is Chris), but my wife had a little bit of a health scare that's going to be keep me from Gateway (and keep Chris from beating everybody in the kart race!). She'll be fine and I should be back next year, but no Gateway for me. I'll be pulling my entry later this week, but good luck to everybody!
Matt Gordon
Matt
Really sorry to hear you will miss the party, but family comes first. Hope Jennifer is doing ok, and remember its only 6months till May, so start that prep now
Can even be earlier Rob. Why just wish you could drive the Legendary Hallett! We can race it as early as March. Doesn't have to be a points race, just get a race weekend to get the gremlins out and cross a track off that bucket list. ( okay I'm all about promotion but I promise a good time on a great track).
Jeremy is a no go for Win Smith Racing, he can not make it. Brandon Davenport should be a go, sign him up.
Then for sure Keith Freber will be one of the WSR crew entries for the kart race.
-Jared
For those that might be taking the crew kart race a little seriously here's some track video footage.... for familarisation.

Oh and don't forget we also have the last two races in Hoosier Tires FST Championship - we have 11 cars entered...
Anyone else still on the fence about coming....tow money is available and more importantly Butch & Barb are providing 'lunch royal' for all on Saturday....
It looks like Matt will miss this race weekend. He has another commitment for the Saturday that can't move.

I called Gateway just now. The testing will cost $150 and will run from 4pm to 8pm on Friday afternoon. If they don't get enough people wanting to test they will cancel the test day. They need 15 to make it work. If you want to test call them soon.
The number is 618-215-8888 ext. 101.
Doug FST 5
We just signed up both cars for the test day. They said they are over 1/2 way there now.
Maybe an earlier start time by an hour? Hope we can still squeeze in some decent time. We have lots of set up to do for Jared's car and Bill Johnson is getting some laps in the Predator/Mutant in as well.
I just looked up Gateway because I couldn't remember and they do have lights. Maybe that's an option?
When I called the track they knew they wanted $150 for the test time but whoever answered the phone had to confer with others about the start time and all that while I was on hold. The answer they gave me was 4-8pm. I'm assuming they will be turning on the lights.

Racing under the lights...that might be worth running the session
As the Hoosier Tire Formula First series draws down to its final event it is still the best regional series around. The last event is studded with happenings, prizes, contingencies, benefits and just plain fun.
Here are just some of the benefits.
- The Formula First Drivers Association Randy Shinn Trophy will be presented to our new 2014 Champion
- A tow fund has been setup for or long distance drivers. Over 740 miles both way get a cash subsidy courtesy of Rave Motorsports and some of our other sponsors.
- The Hoosier Tire contingency
- A “Pro” kart race for FST crew only. $75 for a win $50 for second place and $25 for third place.
- SR Racing will be awarding over a $1000 in in racer tools, parts and clothing at the event. Some of these items will be awarded for both on track and off track feats.
- A number of new and potential drivers will be coming to look at Formula First both the cars and the series itself.
- Free bearing from Aurora bearings.
- The exciting Butch and Barbara Deer “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch” ----FREE LUNCH
- And at the end of the day the usual goodwill/sportsmanship cocktail party.
I will volunteer to go hold a candle so Doug can find his way through turn 1 ????
Let's just be Old School and scatter all the tow vehicles around the track and turn on the headlights. That's real Midwest Redneck Race'n there. LOL
Sign up my grandson ,Luke, in the kart race.
O 'Phart racing. Thanks, Dave Blevins
Since Butch and his wife have lunch covered on Saturday we decided to pack up our big commercial coffee maker and have coffee and pastries for everyone Saturday morning. Being an early race group we figured we better get all the caffeine we can in our system! Stop by the Nuveau Autosports trailer and join us.
You are a prince
It is my pleasure to announce that I (and my wife's Honda Fit) will be your pace car this coming weekend. The last time I tried this, the F. Atl. drivers talked me into a 45 MPH pace which almost rolled the poor car when coming off the track. What is a good FST/FV pace speed? Also, will FST try for a race-within-a-race split start?
Marty
Marty, it's nice to be asked for the input. Personally start speed doesn't matter much to me. I'm usually at the back of the pack watching all the action. LOL. However this is my "Home Track" so maybe I can sneak up for a mid pack position before the speedy guys figure things out.
Marty,
Not sure of speed for a Honder Fit pacing an FST/FV race, but 45 mph doesn't sound all that fast. I would think the pace would slow at corners, but be 50 mph or better on the straights/banking. But then again, what do I know
Bill Bonow
"Wait, which one is the gas pedal again?"
I like approaching start/finish at 4K rpm in third gear. I'm not sure what that speed is in mph but I bet we can figure that out!
Doug FST 5
Looked for my spreadsheet which had everything like this. Not found, so I used a formula which I found in a VW catalog which did not factor in tire expansion (the mph are pretty modest, so expansion is not huge). So 4000 in 3rd gear looks like 55 mph. 3500 would be 48 if I got everything right. A caveat--they just finished re-coating my hardwood floors, I have the windows open but I'm pretty woozy.
And no we don't appear to need a split start
Just finished the 2nd big pot of Chili. Looking forward to hungry people at lunch Sat.

OKI, just found my notes from the last event. The Stewarts want40 MPH for high speed classes and 30 - 35 for all others. The trouble the Fit has with higher speeds is the pace car at Gateway doesn't use the normal pit entrance. Instead there is a short paved gap between the end of the oval and the pit lane. Oh well, I'll try not to screw you up.
Marty
Thanks so much for talking with us about it Marty!
We can approach slower if the stewards want it that way.
Robert - what's 4K rpm in 2nd gear?
Doug FST 5
The track said they'd call me back on Monday after I asked about the lighting for the planned 4pm to 8pm test on Friday. They finally called back just now and told me that the test has been moved to 9am to 5pm on Friday.
The Good - we get more track time for our $150.
The Bad - many of us will be shifting our travel plans again.
So far they have 14 people signed up. They say they need 15 to run the test day.
Doug FST 5
We just received the same call. We had already planned to arrive Thursday evening with both cars. I know Chuck Singletary is going to be in on Thursday also. We will be in the very north end paddock right across from the garage area. The north end would be turns 3 & 4 on the oval. You actually enter the track crossing the back straight and proceed across the road coarse track then turn right at the garage.
Doug
I think 4000 in 2nd is about 32 mph.
I called the track and told them I would insure they had funding for 15 cars even if only 14 are signed up. So - we WILL be testing at Gateway starting at 9am on Friday morning.
Doug FST 5
Now there are 15 for Friday. See you all bright and early
I need to add another crew member,(David), for the go cart race, and lunch on Sat.,thanks,Dave Blevins
