The frame is finished and ready for assembly.

A couple of pics of the 61 going back together. All new aluminum bulkheads and panels, waiting for the rear uprights to come back from coating.
And yes PRU, I know the bolts are loose, kind of like the owner.
Looking great Gordy. Question, what is the name of the color of the frame?
Thanks, Graham.
Hi Graham,
The frame color is Mercedes Silbergrau. The bodywork should be ready for paint next weekend!
A couple more photos.

The Lotus is done with the exception of a few bits (brake/coolant lines, alignment)
The body is ready for paint on Wednesday and unless the new owner wants a different color scheme, you know were I am going !
Thanks for the color info and it is looking great. Nice job.
Graham.
Gosh Gordy you have done a fantastic job of making that great Lotus look brand new! Maybe you should just set it aside for me until I return to Michigan in the spring??
My car is:
whatever decal "white"
Ford "race red"
GM "sparkle gold"
A few tidbits to finish and it's done !
Gordy,
Have been following your rebuild. Thats one awfully pretty car and fabulous restoration.
If I was searching for a 61, my search would be over.
Great job.
Jim
Good to see you brought the red down below the upper and lower body split too, the right way to do it. Very nice Gordy.
Graham.
Gordy,
What a fantastic job you have done on bringing back an old classic to like new condition! Almost too pretty to put back on a track in competition. I am sure it will make its new owner immensely proud however they use it. If it is still around your shop in April when I return to Michigan, I will have real difficulty in leaving for home without it! Thanks for all your freindship and advice these past few weeks. Looking forward to meeting you when I return home!
Best Regards,
Mike
Just drove up to see and test-fit in this—I live in Ann Arbor, about 90 minutes south of Bay City. Pictures don't come close to doing Gordy's work justice. Absolutely gorgeous car, gorgeous assembly work, nothing over- or underdone, and the livery makes the body shape look great (rare thing on a 61, if you ask me). Topping things off, Gordy's a nice, knowledgeable guy, and I think the car's fairly priced for the model and quality of work.
Sadly, I didn't fit. If I had, I would've written a check on the spot. Someone buy this before I run to the nearest hospital have my legs shortened. Still on the hunt for a good roundnose car...

Come on Sam, you are not that big / tall. I have known taller people that have driven a 61. No excuses.

So I took the advice of a previous poster and fiddled with the Lotus seating position this afternoon.
Removed the seat, placed a foam pad against the fuel cell housing to replicate a foamed in place seat, and moved the pedals completely forward. With the steering wheel shaft moved back the fit was good.
I will post pictures later today or tomorrow so interested parties can see exactly how the fit is. For reference I am 6' and 205, with fairly wide shoulders.
Gordy,
I have a feeling that this post about seat position is intended for me! Looking forward to your findings!
Mike
It's driving you crazy, isn't it !

Lola: When four springs just aren't enough.
Sale pending.
Rick,
After we got the uprights disassembled and cleaned/inspected at the coating shop, I decided not to recoat. We were going to use Dow 9, but as it turns out after all the grease and grime was removed they were in remarkably nice condition.
Where is that beautiful Lotus headed; back across the pond?
Mike
