Practice session 1
Started out wet but dried as session went on. Slicks.
Kautz 2:24.245
Bamford 2:24.897
Erlandson 2:28.954
Practice session 2
Full wet, started right after drivers meeting so not everyone got full session in.
Loken 2.50.670
Bamford 2.51.868
Erlandson 2.57.443
This is the info I pulled off of race monitor.
Tommorrow AM the real show starts with quali at 8 AM.
Steve Bamford
Started dry & ended with a wet track. First 4 laps were the best, after that times started dropping off. Very hard to get clean laps in with all the traffic.
Kautz 2:23.897
Bamford 2:25.575
Ardoin 2:25.751
I counted 26 FF completing qualifying. 50 cars total between FF, F5 & FV.
Race will be before lunch according to the schedule.

I watched the first half of the race from the pedestrian bridge over the esses and it was a great race.
Btw- this is the first place I have ever been where the pedestrian bridge wasnt completely blocked. Pretty cool.

Congratulations to Tim once again today.
We had a good run going & lost 2nd gear in lap 2. Made it more interesting at that point.
Steve Bamford
probability of failure downshifting without at least partial clutch is very high no matter how good you are! Who blows a gear in a meger FF, somone not using partial or full clutch............if this s not the case, disregard!! Upshift easy!!
Thanks Reid,
I have heard of others losing a gear before, it wasn't the biggest shock in the world when it happened.
I also left foot brake so using the clutch is to get me rolling only.
I haven't used a clutch in two years now & have not seen any wear issues in the past.
What I do might be wrong but that is how I have taught myself to drive right or wrong.
Steve Bamford
My distraction not necessary folks, missed on that and can't left foot brake with the clutch (Hmm - heel and toe brake and clutch LOL, not necessary as revealed).....nice job Bam!!!!
Jason,
Thanks for upholding the value of the DB-1! Nice job all. Wish I could have been there.
Any VIDEO?!

Talent usually ends up in front, but fun goes from the front of the grid all the way to the back.
Talent and extreme focus and hard work do pay off! Congratulations to Tim and team for another great milestone.
Man do I miss having been there, at the new track in my erstwhile home.

From16tgThanks for your kind words -- From 16th to 4th Saturday -- Start 3rd then third this morning (for four laps) -- +5 sec over 4th and pulling away - double yellow - then five (5) lapped Vees between 2 and 3 - boxed in at the re-start and passed by three FF -- then another crash -- only five laps of racing -- so it goes --- great weekend though 4th and 6th at COTA, the Palace !!!!
Video -- had to catch plane-- will try to upload video next week when the car returns

never used a clutch in my life after leaving the pits, zero gear / dog failures because of it. Only gearbox failure ever was from over filled box combined with clogged vent, and yes that blew up the entire box not just 1 gear or dog.

Great track, great weekend, great racing, and a big congrats to Tim and Steve for the job they did! Seems everyone (almost) had a great time -- certainly can say I did.
But there might be some confusion about yesterday's P3 podium spot, which was straightened out before the celebration but wasn't caught on the first "Official" results handout. There was an "Official Results - Revised" handout at about 4pm local time, showing that I was indeed P3 and Bill Kephart was P4. Race Monitor continues to show it the other way around.
The mixup occurred because as we passed T20 under double yellow and came around for the checkered, I believe Bill thought we were going green (good assumption), and jumped alongside and a nose ahead of me to take the P3 position. As soon as he saw the checker and yellow being waved by the starter, he backed out of it, but had already crossed the timing loop, which was apparently a little before the starter's stand. Hence, T&S registered him in P3, but the stewards straightened it out, with Bill's complete agreement, before the podium celebration. However, it wasn't until much later in the day that T&S actually corrected the results sheet.
As they say, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it... Can't wait to go back!

Congratulations DZ! Great job!
Thanks, guys. It was great to be there, meet a whole bunch of great drivers (and great people) that we West Coasters never get to race with, and come away with a good result. Couldn't have been there without Stan Townes, and couldn't have done as well without our pal Ethan as my "crew chief". A huge thanks to both of them!
Just to satisfy my curiosity, who used Honda power vs Ford power?
And a giant thanks to MBlanc for the use of his spare battery. Mine died on pre-grid Friday 8AM. Even trying to push start it failed.
I cannot be sure towards the end of the grid BUT I believe Jason was the only one up front on Good~Years in the land of "purple" sage. The Good~Year OK. distributor on-site did not have any Good~Years on the truck, rains or slicks (nor any in the local warehouse when I called the week before) and we had to have ours delivered from Competition Tire South before we left. Hoosiers' were everywhere some, 35s and a few "pro" sets.
Cooper, Generotti, (Kents)
Tim runs a Honda now but he is seriously fast with either engine.
Does anyone have any in car video of the race? Sounded like it fun very intense race.
