The PFCs are impressive, but cost a pretty penny. The Wilwoods were a disappointment. Maybe some Firman guys will chime in about their APs, but I hear they are pretty good too.
I have Alcon calipers. I never heard of them before, they work pretty good though. Anyone know about them?
Alcon is a very high quality caliper manufactured in the UK. Their American office is in suburban Chicago and is managed by Phil Stubbs a very knowledgable guy.

Which Alcon's are on the Elan FB? 2 piston? 4 piston?
I believe that they were pretty inconsistent. The way that I had it described to me was, "Every brake zone was interesting because I never knew what was going to happen when I pressed on the brake pedal." They were spongy and pad availability was poor, but I think that you have much better pad availability with the wilwoods you have.
They just are not high quality parts. There is a reason that a PFC piston costs more than a wilwood caliper.
This is the radial mount calipers that the Citation was using, I think Phoenix was using the same one and they have likewise moved on to the PFC's.
I would get complaints from Schwietz similar to what Wren describes about never being sure how they would behave when he got on the brakes, as well as comments about how they felt like pushing on springs. They didn't give him the confidence to be more aggressive with braking points, and this is coming from a guy who would stick his head in a fire to see if it was hot. After switching to the PFCs, the comments were more like, "The car stops immediately and predictably every time I get on the brakes." Also, the pads seem to wear evenly. And they are the 01 compound (driver's preference), which wasn't available for the Wilwoods, as Wren said.
the question?
Elan DP-04 AP Caliper.

The question was which FB brake system is best? (sort of) Im not vary good at this and I somehow posted and deleted original question all at once
I don't think you can go wrong with AP. I've not had much luck in the past with Willwood. Alcon might be worth a look too. They were fitted to the prototype DP-04.
What kind of car are the brakes going on?
Which Wilwood caliper is the one getting the complaints?
Thanks ... Jay Novak
