Default Great price on Swift 008

No connection to car, looks like a good buy.

That is a LOT of car for the money. Maybe a bit faster than a DB4, but more modern, and much safer.....don't know the seller.

Bill why and how is it a bit safer or even much safer than a DB4....just evolution or some specific reasons.

    Hi Tim,
IMHO, a DB4 tub is more confined than the 008, and most engineers think the carbon tub offers much better crash energy dissipation......higher cockpit sides and cockpit surround.

Hope all is well in your world.

    Regards,
    Bill

I will admit the 4 tub is confined, if the driver is of the size DB designed it for you fit quiet well...but tight.

I would like to know from the history members around here if any DB4's where written off in a big way from a sever wreck.....and how the drivers faired.....it is all curiosity and not a thing else....

...and life is hanging in the for me...alwys a bit challenging, and more surgery last Friday...but OK...

I haven't been following the engine developments. When did the 4 AG motor start putting out over 260 hp? Sounds like a return to the old SV 35 minute motors.

It was a Bertils 1.8L VW that woulds last 35 minutes - if you were lucky - perfect for a 30 minute race.

The listing says 260+ from Arnie. IF that's not the case then it adds doubt to the rest of the listing. You are right - that's a lot of car for a small amount of money.

    If it sounds too good to be true . . . . . . .

These were not Club guys - it was the Bosch Super Vee Series and it paid well.

    Default Toyota Power

I'm not an authority, but I believe 250 hp would be a very stong engine on Loynings dyno. There are some trick bits out there, good for a couple of hp, and Stan alluded to a new rod/ piston combination that offers increased longevity, and a slight hp advantage. 260? I doubt it.

    Default 260HP - not quite.

I've never seen 260. High 250's, but not 260. This is on carbureted engines.

Peak torque is at 7600 and is around 149-150.

    I run them 800-900 miles.

I doubt it, too, Jim. My last several Loynings motors have dyno'd over 250 hp and 145 tq with all his latest tweaks. 260 sounds like a "sales ad" hp figure to me.

That mild criticism aside, Arnie makes a very good motor that is fully capable of winning the Runoffs, as repeatedly demonstrated. If you are seriously interested and want the specs on the motor, contact the seller and ask him to read you the build # off the back of the head. Then call Arnie on 503-775-2999 to discuss its specs, history and power.

BTW, from the photos I am 99.44% sure that this is the car I ran for Mark Ishikawa for a couple of years before he bought his 014. Mark always takes very good care of his cars and this car had every upgrade imaginable short of the 014 aero kit. When it left Mark's shop it was still a pure 008, aero-wise (and still appears to be). IMO the 008 is a small step behind the 014 and RT-41 in aero efficiency, about like a RT-40 and slightly better than a DB-4 in original aero trim. The NST gearbox is also "attention intensive" if it is to be reliable, and not as strong as the SG3 in the 014, but is otherwise as good or better than the Staffs in a Ralt. Jus' my opinion...YMMV.

If my info is correct, this car has seen very little track time since leaving Mark's shop, so I am prepared to believe the 78 miles figure. That's probably since leaving Mark's shop, when a fresh Arnie motor went into the car. If that is the case, then at this price it is a heck of a good deal!

Not sure if you meant what RPM is peak power or what RPM we use.

We use 10,000-10,400 depending on track. Peak is at 9,400.

This car made a stop at my place from Mark..It's was in pieces when we put it together..The engine was supose to be good from Mark but went to Arnie anyway. The car has a good "club" motor. Haven't seen his ad but yes 260 is a bit lofty..But it's good now the less..This guy would really like to sell this car and has only been in it twice that I know of..Unfortunately I think this was a case of way to much car for the driver..He bought an extra set wheels and gears sets from us after purchasing the car..I think it's in it's original paint scheme when it was at Mike Shank racing..The seller was very keen on it being very close to original livery from a specific driver but i don't remember who it was..Great car none the less someone will be happy..

Rodolfo Lavin drove the car. His father sat on the board of Corona this being his primary funding in Atlantics, Indy lites and champ cars.

It all sounds good...sort of like my 300 mile motor did..............if you cant figure it out, PM (oops no pun intended) me for the rest of the story.
